The ASR5K-00-SN01DIRT license is specifically designed for the ASR 5500 platform in the Cisco ASR 5000 series. This license provides the capability of SGSN (Serving GPRS Support Node) Direct Tunneling, supporting up to 1,000 SAAUs (Simultaneously Active Anonymous Users). SGSN Direct Tunneling is necessary for mobile networks, primarily for GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution). The direct tunnel separates control and user planes, routing user data directly to the Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN), bypassing the SGSN. This results in more efficient resource usage and decreased latency in data transmission. SAAUs refer to the users who are actively using the network services at the same time. This license's capability to manage up to 1,000 SAAUs concurrently allows network operators to maintain optimal service qualities, even during peak network usage times.
