What Impacts Cisco SmartNet Pricing

Device Type and Hardware Model

Higher-tier Cisco hardware and mission-critical devices carry higher SmartNet support and maintenance costs due to increased replacement value and SLA requirements.

Selected SmartNet Coverage Level (SLA)

Faster response times such as Cisco 24x7x4 or 24x7x2 advanced hardware replacement increase overall SmartNet contract pricing.

Contract Term and Renewal Structure

Multi-year Cisco contracts reduce annual SmartNet cost through amortised pricing, while lapsed renewals add back-fees and reinstatement charges to the total.

Deployment Region and Logistics

Depot locations and regional coverage zones affect both SmartNet contract pricing and how fast replacement hardware can physically reach your site.

Typical Cisco SmartNet Pricing by Device Type

Core Switch or Router (Cisco 24x7x4)

Typical annual Cisco SmartNet cost: $2,800 – $6,000

Mid-tier SmartNet coverage with 24/7 four-hour advanced hardware replacement support usually falls in this range for core switching and routing hardware.

Firewall or Data Center Device (Cisco 24x7x2)

Typical annual Cisco SmartNet cost: $5,000 – $11,000+

High-availability SmartNet support with 2 hour hardware replacement on firewalls and data center devices ranges above $5,000 and can exceed $10,000 for larger platforms annually

SmartNet Expired or Device at End of Life?

Lapsed contracts and devices approaching Last Day of Support both need handling before the renewal cycle, and both cost more the longer they wait.

SmartNet Expired or Lapsed

Cisco applies back-fees for the uncovered period and a reinstatement charge. We quantify the exposure first, then reinstate with your original SLA.

Never Lapse Again

While lapsed you have no TAC, no RMA and no security updates. We track every end date and flag renewals ninety days out, helping you avoid coverage gaps.

Cisco End of Life and LDoS

SmartNet cannot be renewed past a device's Last Day of Support. Send your serial list and we flag every device at or near LDoS, helping you plan renewals in time.

Support Past Last Day of Support

Cisco support ends at LDoS. The remaining routes are third-party maintenance or a refresh, and we price both alongside continued coverage.

What is Cisco SmartNet?

Cisco's official hardware and software support contract. It provides Cisco TAC access, advance hardware replacement, IOS updates and security patches for registered devices.

Is SmartNet the same as Smart Net Total Care?

Yes. Cisco renamed SmartNet to Smart Net Total Care. SNTC adds an inventory portal and contract visibility on top of identical support entitlement.

What does Cisco SmartNet cover?

TAC support at all severity levels, advance hardware replacement to your chosen SLA, IOS and software updates, and access to Cisco security advisories.

Do I need SmartNet on every device?

Coverage is per serial number, so each device needs its own line. We can co-terminate them onto a single contract and renewal date.

Can I download Cisco software without SmartNet?

Only maintenance releases addressing critical security vulnerabilities. Feature updates, major upgrades and firmware require active SmartNet or SNTC entitlement.

Is SmartNet mandatory?

Not contractually. But without it you lose Cisco TAC access, hardware RMA rights, IOS updates and access to security patches for known vulnerabilities.

How is Cisco SmartNet pricing calculated, and why is yours lower than Cisco direct?

Pricing is based on hardware model, coverage level, contract term and region. We optimise the commercial structure and procurement route without changing entitlement.

How do I check my current SmartNet status?

Send us your serial numbers or contract number. We return coverage status, entitlement level and contract end date, usually within four business hours.

Can I buy SmartNet without buying hardware from you?

Yes. SmartNet attaches to eligible devices you already own. We validate serials and register the contract without any hardware purchase.

Can I transfer SmartNet to a new provider?

Yes. Coverage transfers with the serial number. Entitlement, SLA level and RMA rights stay intact, with no gap during the handover.

What happens at renewal?

We review current entitlement, validate the installed base, confirm the right SLA, and quote with no downgrade in coverage or response time.
