2560 Gbps switching capacity and 1904 Mpps forwarding quantify the chassis's hardware forwarding performance. A 25 MB packet buffer is shared by each group of twelve 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, with adjustable shared and dedicated allocation. NX-OS supports 4000 VLANs, LACP, PVRST+ and MSTP for Ethernet switching. N5K-C56128P offers CLI access through the console, SSHv2 or Telnet, alongside SNMP and XML NETCONF interfaces; Cisco Prime DCNM provides centralized GUI management. Routing is not included in the default Layer 2 feature set. N5K-C56128P identifies the Cisco Nexus 56128P base chassis with 48 fixed 10G SFP+ ports and four fixed 40G QSFP+ ports. The complete 56128P designation is the model name, not the installed connector count. The base configuration is separate from expansion modules and separately selected power supply and fan options.
The Nexus 5600 supports console CLI, SSHv2, Telnet, in-band management, a dedicated Ethernet management connection, SNMPv1/v2/v3 and XML NETCONF. Cisco Prime DCNM supplies GUI management, while Cisco Fabric Manager and CiscoWorks LMS are also supported management tools. Select the management connection and management software to match the existing operating environment.
N5K-C56128P is discontinued, and Cisco support ended September 30, 2025. Its Cisco end-of-sale date was September 9, 2020, with software maintenance ending September 9, 2021. N9K-C93360YC-FX2 is the replacement. A reseller order does not reopen Cisco service eligibility or extend the expired manufacturer support milestones.

N56-M24UP2Q fits either of the two N5K-C56128P expansion bays and adds 24 unified SFP+ interfaces plus two QSFP+ interfaces. The unified interfaces support Ethernet or native Fibre Channel operation with the required licensing. N56-M24UP2Q must be powered off before removal, even when the chassis remains powered.
N5K-C56128P accepts NXA-PAC-1100W, NXA-PAC-1100W-B, N55-PDC-1100W, NXA-PHV-1100W and NXA-PHV-1100W-B. At least one supply is required without N56-M24UP2Q expansion modules, and at least two are required when expansion modules are installed. Power supplies are configured separately with the base chassis and must match the selected airflow direction.
The Cisco Nexus 56128P provides four fixed 40G QSFP+ interfaces alongside its fixed 1/10G SFP+ connections. N56-M24UP2Q adds two more 40G QSFP+ interfaces per installed expansion module. Select compatible connection media for the required reach and include those components explicitly rather than assuming the base chassis includes optical connectivity.
N5K-C56128P-OSM includes a full Storage Services license, whereas N5K-C56128P is the base chassis rather than that storage bundle. Both PIDs are discontinued. The bundle distinction matters when matching a licensed storage installation; a base chassis order instead requires verification of the storage entitlements needed by the existing configuration.
N5K-C56128P has four fixed 40G QSFP+ interfaces, while N5K-C5672UP has six. N5K-C5672UP is also discontinued, so this comparison primarily helps match existing equipment requirements. The four-interface model suits an installed configuration using that connection count; the six-interface model matches an estate requiring six fixed 40G connections.
