The 1 m reach is the edge over the supplied 0.5 m cable when switches are mounted side by side. It does not serve Catalyst 9300L or 9300LM StackWise-320 adapters. A Cisco Catalyst 9300 stack cable uses the rear StackWise ports and gives the stack one management plane and one control plane. Catalyst 3850 StackWise-480 switches also use Type 1 StackWise cables, except WS-C3850-48XS models do not use StackWise-480. STACK-T1-3M is the longer sibling for 3 m paths.

Technical Details
480 Gbps of stack bandwidth applies to Catalyst 9300 and Catalyst 3850 StackWise-480 stacks; 1 Tbps applies to homogeneous Catalyst 9300X StackWise-1T stacks. Eight Catalyst 9300 members form the maximum data stack; Catalyst 3850 reaches nine members, with 4-ASIC Catalyst 3850 models limited to 8 members. Full-ring cabling gives full bandwidth and redundant StackWise connections; incomplete cabling leaves half bandwidth and no redundant link. STACK-T1-1M connects either end to any StackWise-480/1T rear stack port, and the connector screws need finger-tightening. C9300X mixed with C9300 runs at 480 Gbps, while fixed uplink Catalyst 9300L and 9300LM stacks use StackWise-320. Catalyst 9300 runs Cisco IOS XE 16.9.2 or later.
