When a core refresh requires four-point rack support, the standard mounting brackets do not replace the additional extension rails. C9500X-4PTH-KIT= supplies matching rails and brackets for Catalyst 9500X hardware. Include that kit and confirm the rack attachment requirements before releasing the hardware purchase order.
During lab staging, the factory model name remains unchanged after a software-license upgrade, so the model identifier alone cannot confirm the active entitlement. Capture the running license level separately from hardware identity, retain both records for acceptance, and specify the required software tier on the purchase order.
BGP routing under the included license
C9500X-28C8D-E does not include BGP in Network Essentials. C9500X-28C8D-A supplies Network Advantage on the same hardware for buyers who require advanced routing.
Meraki dashboard configuration
C9500X-28C8D-E does not support Meraki cloud management. Its configuration paths include local WebUI, CLI and Catalyst Center rather than dashboard-controlled configuration.
Native copper endpoint access
C9500X-28C8D-E provides QSFP28 and QSFP-DD data interfaces rather than native RJ-45 access ports, so direct copper endpoint access is unavailable.

C9500X-28C8D-E identifies a Catalyst 9500X switch with 28 100G interfaces, eight 400G interfaces and Network Essentials. C9500X names the family, 28C corresponds to the 28-port 100G configuration, 8D corresponds to eight 400G ports, and -E selects the included Network Essentials license tier.
Catalyst 9500X is managed through WebUI, console or remote CLI over SSH Version 2 or Telnet, and Cisco Catalyst Center. NETCONF, RESTCONF and gNMI provide programmatic paths. Meraki cloud management is not supported on these models; specify the intended local or controller-managed configuration workflow.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst 9500X. C9500X-28C8D-E remains a Network Essentials member of that family. Hardware lifecycle and IOS XE release retirement are separate decisions, so an operating-system retirement does not by itself establish an end-of-sale date for the switch.
C9500X-28C8D-E combines perpetual Network Essentials with a matching subscription on new orders. Cisco DNA Essentials or Advantage requires at least three years; Cisco Networking Subscription offers Cisco Switching Essentials or Cisco Switching Advantage with a 36-month minimum. This PID uses Essentials; the perpetual network license remains after the add-on expires.
C9500X-28C8D-E includes Network Essentials, while C9500X-28C8D-A includes Network Advantage on the same hardware. Essentials covers routed access with OSPF limited to 1000 routes; Advantage adds BGP and advanced routing capabilities. Choose Essentials for the narrower feature requirement or Advantage when those additional routing functions are required.
C9500X-28C8D-E provides 28 native 100G QSFP28 ports, whereas C9500X-60L4D-A provides 60 native 50G SFP56 ports. Their principal interface configurations therefore address different connection inventories. The former suits aggregation of native 100G links; the latter suits buyers needing a larger number of native 50G connections.
C9500X-28C8D-E includes RIP, EIGRP Stub, OSPF with a 1000-route limit, PBR, VRRP and PIM Stub with a 1000-route limit under Network Essentials. The larger hardware forwarding-table capacity does not remove these license limits. BGP, full EIGRP and other advanced routing functions require Network Advantage.
C9500X-28C8D-E ships with one C9K-PWR-1500WAC and provides a second power-supply bay for optional redundancy. C9K-PWR-1500WAC accepts 90-264V AC. Add another C9K-PWR-1500WAC when redundant AC power is required, and specify the power connection for the installation site.
Catalyst 9500X requires 1U of rack height; C9500X-28C8D-E measures 43.9 mm high, 444.5 mm wide and 553.7 mm deep including handles. Standard rack brackets accompany the base configuration. Where four-point support is required, include C9500X-4PTH-KIT= rather than relying on the standard brackets alone.

Cisco's separate Enhanced Limited Lifetime Warranty applies to the original owner and is limited to five years after a discontinuance announcement.
