WS-C2960S-F24PS-L provides managed Layer 2 access through 24 10/100 Mbps copper ports and two fixed 1G SFP uplinks. PoE+ supplies compatible IP phones, wireless access points and cameras through their network connections. The full-width 1U chassis belongs to the Cisco Catalyst 2960-SF series for branch office and midsize campus access. LAN Base software supplies the feature set for this configuration. Within the Catalyst 2960 family, this model combines Fast Ethernet endpoint connectivity with fiber uplink slots; the copper access ports do not provide Gigabit Ethernet. The discontinued WS-C2960S-F24TS-L is the nearest data-only sibling and does not supply PoE. The purchase distinction is whether connected endpoints receive power from the switch or from a separate power arrangement.
WS-C2960S-F24PS-L price for new stock is $3,447.41. WS-C2960S-F24PS-L refurb price is $159.58. WS-C2960S-F24PS-L is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

176 Gbps switching capacity provides the switching fabric for access traffic, while 6.5 Mpps forwarding performance defines this model's packet-processing rate. 370W of shared PoE power supports twelve endpoints drawing 30W each or twenty-four drawing 15.4W each; endpoint allocations must remain within that shared allowance. WS-C2960S-F24PS-L maintains 8000 unicast MAC entries and uses 128 MB of DRAM with 64 MB of flash for software and configuration storage. Four egress queues per port separate traffic classes, and hardware access control lists restrict traffic using MAC addresses, IP addresses and TCP/UDP ports. IPv6 host and management functions do not provide IPv6 routing, and MACsec is absent. Configuration options include the CLI over SSH or Telnet, the embedded browser-based device manager, Cisco Network Assistant and Cisco Prime Infrastructure. The fixed central blower pulls air from the sides and exhausts it through the rear, so enclosure placement must preserve both intake and exhaust clearance.
ORM Systems offers WS-C2960S-F24PS-L new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to 3-year extended warranty on new units, up to 1 year on refurbished units, and 30-day returns on either condition, terms apply. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, with PoE output verified under load on every powered port, firmware verified, and configurations wiped to factory default. Specify condition, quantity and required accessories on the PO; Cisco's Enhanced Limited Lifetime hardware warranty and service ended November 30, 2020. Enterprise and volume orders support PO acceptance, Net-30 for government and RMA with advance replacement, with regional stock and RMA across the UK, EU, US and MEA.

An existing LAN Base stack needs another access member while retaining a single management address and unified configuration. A joining FlexStack member reboots before participating, so extension work requires an agreed change window rather than an unattended insertion. Specify the existing stack software and joining-member preparation before the PO.
A staging bench needs administrative connectivity separate from endpoint traffic. The dedicated 10/100 Ethernet management interface takes its own IP address, allowing the administrative connection to be configured independently of access ports. Specify the management addressing plan and the configuration access path before ordering the staging unit.
A repeat branch installation needs automated configuration without assigning the access switch a deployment-server role. Smart Install operates in client mode only on this hardware; the switch cannot act as the director. Identify the existing configuration-delivery arrangement and specify the required software image before the PO.
Gigabit connectivity to copper endpoints
The copper access ports stop at 100 Mbps, not 1 Gbps. The current migration chain ends at C9200L-24P-4G rather than the discontinued intermediate replacement.
10G uplinks to distribution
The two built-in uplinks use 1G SFP connections; no 10G uplink configuration is available on this chassis. A transceiver change cannot add 10G uplink support.
Redundant internal switch power
The internal power supply is fixed, and external redundant-power support is absent. A second supply cannot be added to this chassis for redundant switch power.

WS-C2960S-F24PS-L identifies a 24-port Fast Ethernet PoE+ switch with two Gigabit SFP uplinks and LAN Base. The WS-C2960S-F portion identifies the Catalyst 2960-SF family, 24 indicates access-port count, P denotes powered access, S denotes SFP uplinks, and the final -L denotes LAN Base rather than LAN Lite.
WS-C2960S-F24PS-L supports CLI management over SSH or Telnet, the browser-based device manager, Cisco Network Assistant, Cisco Prime Infrastructure and SNMP. A dedicated 10/100 out-of-band Ethernet interface provides separate administrative access. IPv6 management also supports HTTP/HTTPS, Syslog and DHCP-based configuration, independently of the switch's Layer 2 forwarding role.
WS-C2960S-F24PS-L is discontinued: end of sale was November 6, 2015, and Cisco service ended November 30, 2020. The original replacement, WS-C2960X-24PS-L, is also discontinued; its migration path continues to C9200L-24P-4G. An unused sealed unit does not restart Cisco's ended service period or restore support eligibility.
ORM Systems offers WS-C2960S-F24PS-L new sealed and certified refurbished, with up to 3-year extended warranty on new units and up to 1 year on refurbished units. Both conditions have 30-day returns, terms apply. Cisco's Enhanced Limited Lifetime hardware warranty and service ended November 30, 2020; ORM coverage is separate.
WS-C2960S-F24PS-L requires no separate software subscription or installed license for its factory-bound LAN Base feature set. The Universal Cisco IOS image serves both LAN Base and LAN Lite hardware, but the hardware fixes the capabilities. A LAN Lite unit cannot become LAN Base through an image change or license purchase.
WS-C2960S-F24PS-L shares 370W across its 24 PoE+ access ports and supports twelve devices at 30W each or twenty-four at 15.4W each. The 30W per-port ceiling is not available across every port simultaneously. Endpoint allocations must stay within the total budget when mixing phones, cameras and other powered devices.
WS-C2960S-F24PS-L has two fixed 1G SFP uplink slots, no fixed SFP+ ports and no removable uplink card. These uplinks are separate from the 24 copper access connections. Specify compatible SFP transceivers for the required link media and distance; 10G uplinks are not an option on this model.
Catalyst 2960-SF LAN Base supports four-member Cisco FlexStack stacks using optional C2960S-F-STACK modules. CAB-STK-E-0.5M, CAB-STK-E-1M and CAB-STK-E-3M provide 0.5 m, 1 m and 3 m cable lengths. LAN Lite hardware cannot join; Catalyst 2960-S LAN Base switches can participate in a mixed stack with Catalyst 2960-SF LAN Base members.
Catalyst 2960-SF does not provide IPv6 routing in this configuration. LAN Base includes IPv6 host and management capabilities, multicast snooping and security functions, but those capabilities do not make the switch an IPv6 router. The switch remains a Layer 2 access device rather than a routed access switch.
Catalyst 2960-SF uses a fixed internal AC power supply and does not support an external redundant power system. A second internal supply cannot be installed. The fixed central blower draws air from the sides and exhausts it through the rear, so rack placement must leave both air paths open.
WS-C2960S-F24PS-L supplies PoE+ to endpoints, while WS-C2960S-F24TS-L is data-only. Both have 24 Fast Ethernet access ports and two Gigabit SFP uplinks with LAN Base. Both are discontinued; the powered model serves existing switch-powered endpoint estates, while the data-only model matches externally powered devices in legacy sparing plans.
WS-C2960S-F24PS-L has LAN Base, while WS-C2960S-F24TS-S has LAN Lite, which cannot be upgraded to LAN Base. Both are discontinued, and their software feature levels are fixed to their hardware. The LAN Base model addresses advanced Layer 2 requirements; the LAN Lite model addresses basic switching requirements in existing estates.
C9200L-24P-4G is the current migration destination for WS-C2960S-F24PS-L, whose Cisco service ended November 30, 2020. The intermediate WS-C2960X-24PS-L is also discontinued. The old model addresses like-for-like legacy spares; the Catalyst 9200L base PID addresses a replacement purchase and requires selection of its own hardware and software configuration.
