C1000-16P-2G-L combines 512 MB DRAM with 256 MB flash. RSTP and MSTP govern redundant Layer 2 paths, while SNMP supports monitoring. 136.92W consumption with PoE provides a power-planning figure distinct from the allowance delivered to endpoints. The fixed uplink interfaces cannot be upgraded by installing a higher-speed network card.

When replacing WS-C2960L-16PS-JP, WS-C2960L-16PS-LL, WS-C2960L-16PSLL++ or WS-C2960L-SM-16PS, this model is their named replacement, but its own sales have ended. Treat the purchase as an installed-estate refresh rather than a new-generation rollout. Confirm the required quantity and existing endpoint connections before issuing the PO.
Branches that may restart after an unheated shutdown must distinguish operating temperature from startup temperature. C1000-16P-2G-L identifies a Catalyst 1000 switch with 16 Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ ports and two 1G SFP uplinks. C1000 names the family, 16 is the access-port count, P denotes powered access ports, and 2G identifies the uplink configuration. The shared power allowance is 120W.
C1000-16P-2G-L supports Cisco Configuration Professional's on-box web UI, CLI access through the RJ-45 console or SSH and Telnet, and SNMP monitoring. An external USB Bluetooth dongle also permits browser or CLI access from a laptop or tablet. Specify the console connection and administration method before deployment.
C1000-16P-2G-L reached end of sale on April 30, 2025, and software maintenance ended April 30, 2026. Security support ends April 30, 2028; the last date of support is April 30, 2030. C1300-16P-2G is the replacement. Continuing Cisco service depends on entitlement, not simply owning the hardware.

C1000-16P-2G-L replaces WS-C2960L-16PS-JP, WS-C2960L-16PS-LL, WS-C2960L-16PSLL++ and WS-C2960L-SM-16PS, which ended sale October 31, 2021. Those older models share a 16-port Gigabit PoE access layout with two 1G SFP uplinks. The replacement itself is discontinued, so an estate refresh must account for that separate lifecycle.
C1000-16P-2G-L shares 120W across 16 PoE+ ports and supports 30W per port within that total. Sixteen endpoints requesting 30W would require 480W, exceeding the available budget. Inventory each endpoint's power request and total the simultaneous demand before specifying the powered-device mix.
The Catalyst 1000 16-port desktop switch can be installed in a standard equipment rack using RCKMNT-19-CMPCT=, which is ordered separately. Rack brackets are not included with this model. Add RCKMNT-19-CMPCT= to a rack-based purchase order rather than expecting full-width mounting hardware in the box.
C1000-16P-2G-L provides PoE+ endpoint power, whereas C1000-16T-2G-L provides data-only access ports. Both models are discontinued. Choose the powered model when connected equipment needs power from Ethernet; the data-only sibling fits separately powered endpoints. New-generation purchases should use a current replacement rather than either discontinued sibling.
C1000-16P-2G-L contains an internal power supply, while C1000-16P-E-2G-L uses an external power supply. The external-supply model is also discontinued. The internal version suits an order requiring direct AC connection to the chassis; the external version requires the separate supply arrangement to be included.
