C1000-8FP-2G-L is a fanless, managed Layer 2 desktop switch with eight Gigabit RJ-45 PoE+ access ports and two fixed 1G combo uplinks. Each uplink uses either its copper connection or its SFP connection, allowing media selection without adding a removable uplink card. The Catalyst 1000 family serves small businesses and branch offices connecting wired clients, IP phones, and wireless access points. This configuration uses an internal AC power supply rather than an external adapter, and its fixed supply does not provide internal power redundancy. The discontinued C1000-8P-2G-L sibling carries a smaller 67W endpoint power budget. Neither the compact chassis nor its fixed uplinks provides a modular uplink upgrade path.
C1000-8FP-2G-L price for new stock is $471.45, a 67.3% saving from the Cisco list price of $1,443.00. C1000-8FP-2G-L refurb price is $378.00. C1000-8FP-2G-L is in stock and available for free next-day delivery. (terms applied)

20 Gbps switching capacity supports line-rate switching across the fixed interfaces, while 14.88 Mpps forwarding provides the packet-processing figure for traffic sizing. 120W of shared PoE power requires allocation across connected endpoints rather than assuming simultaneous maximum output from every powered port. C1000-8FP-2G-L carries 512 MB of DRAM and 256 MB of flash for its operating image and configuration storage. 138.15W consumption with PoE provides a loaded operating figure for upstream AC power planning. Cisco Catalyst 1000 Series switches use Cisco IOS, with RSTP/MSTP for spanning-tree operation and LACP for link aggregation toward a compatible peer. Port-based ACLs, DHCP snooping, and Dynamic ARP Inspection support endpoint security controls. Multi-chassis EtherChannel is not supported; connecting switches through Single IP Management does not add that capability.
ORM Systems supplies C1000-8FP-2G-L new sealed and certified refurbished; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, with PoE output verified under load on every powered port, firmware verified, and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify the condition and required quantity on the PO, adding RCKMNT-19-CMPCT= when equipment-rack installation is required. ORM's warranty is up to 3-year extended for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units, with 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply; Cisco's Enhanced Limited Lifetime warranty applies to eligible original end users with discontinuance limits, and Cisco service ends April 30, 2030. Enterprise and volume orders are accepted by PO, with Net-30 for government and RMA with advance replacement.

When a branch installation places networking equipment on a desk, shelf, or wall, ventilation and cable access need checking before the equipment order. Maintain 76 mm clearance around ventilation openings and avoid wall mounting with the front panel facing upward. Check the mounting surface and cable-entry direction before the PO.
When several small offices share a staged configuration, administrative access settings need to match the installed software. Cisco IOS Release 15.2(7)E3 enables SSH by default and disables Telnet by default. Include the intended access method in the staging checklist, then verify those settings before releasing the combined purchase order.
When replacement spares cover sites in the UK, EU, US, and MEA, ORM's regional stock and RMA coverage belongs in the procurement plan. Separate replacement quantities from installation quantities, assign the required condition to each line, and confirm the regional stock requirement before issuing the PO.
10G uplinks to distribution
C1000-8FP-2G-L uplinks are limited to 1G. C1300-24FP-4X provides four 10G SFP+ uplinks, but also changes the access-port count to 24.
Multi-chassis EtherChannel across grouped switches
Multi-chassis EtherChannel is not supported on C1000-8FP-2G-L. Single IP Management connects the management group without providing one EtherChannel spanning different member chassis.
Cisco support beyond April 2030
Cisco service for C1000-8FP-2G-L ends April 30, 2030. C1300-8FP-2G is the current replacement for buyers whose support horizon extends beyond that cutoff.

C1000-8FP-2G-L identifies a Catalyst 1000 configuration: C1000 is the family, 8 is the access-port count, FP distinguishes the 120W PoE+ version, and 2G denotes two 1G combo uplinks. Specify the complete identifier, including -L, rather than substituting a similarly named external-power configuration.
Catalyst 1000 switches support the Cisco Configuration Professional on-box web UI, CLI access through RJ-45 console or SSH/Telnet, and SNMP. An external USB Bluetooth dongle also enables browser or CLI access from laptops and tablets. SSH is enabled and Telnet disabled by default starting with Cisco IOS Release 15.2(7)E3.
120W is shared across the eight PoE+ ports on C1000-8FP-2G-L, and each port supports 30W. The shared budget does not permit every port to maintain its maximum simultaneously. Add endpoint power requirements before allocating port power and specifying the powered-device load on the equipment schedule.
Two fixed 1G combo uplinks are built into C1000-8FP-2G-L, with copper RJ-45 or SFP connectivity selected for each link. The alternative media connections do not create four independent uplinks. These interfaces are not 10G SFP+ uplinks, and a removable network card cannot upgrade their speed.
Eight Catalyst 1000 Gigabit Ethernet switches can share one management IP address through Single IP Management. Uplink connections join the management group rather than dedicated backplane stack ports. Multi-chassis EtherChannel is not supported, so link aggregation requirements must be checked separately from the shared management address.
Yes, C1000-8FP-2G-L can be installed in an equipment rack using optional RCKMNT-19-CMPCT= brackets; its narrow chassis remains a desktop unit rather than a full-width rack switch. RCKMNT-19-CMPCT= is not included with the switch. Check ventilation clearance and include RCKMNT-19-CMPCT= when rack installation is required.
Cisco IOS is the operating system for C1000-8FP-2G-L, which uses a universal software image. Browser management also requires the accompanying web files, not just the binary image. Include web-interface verification in the post-upgrade acceptance check before approving the staged configuration for deployment.
C1000-8FP-2G-L ended sale on April 30, 2025, and Cisco support ends April 30, 2030. Routine software maintenance ended April 30, 2026; security support ends April 30, 2028. C1300-8FP-2G is the current replacement. Buyers retaining this discontinued model must separate hardware availability from its remaining support milestones.
C1000-8FP-2G-L allocates 120W to PoE+, while the discontinued C1000-8P-2G-L allocates 67W. Both retain eight Gigabit access ports and two 1G combo uplinks. The higher-budget model suits larger endpoint loads; the lower-budget model suits smaller aggregate power requirements across the connected devices.
C1000-8FP-2G-L uses internal AC power, whereas the discontinued C1000-8FP-E-2G-L uses external PWR-ADPT-150W. Both provide the same 120W PoE budget, eight access ports, and two 1G combo uplinks. Internal-power replacement orders match the former; external-adapter installations match the latter and must include PWR-ADPT-150W.
C1000-8FP-2G-L is discontinued with an April 30, 2025 end-of-sale date; C1300-8FP-2G is its current replacement. Both configurations use eight Gigabit access ports and two 1G combo uplinks. Existing Catalyst 1000 replacement orders may require the original identifier; new-build buyers should specify the replacement rather than the discontinued series.
ORM Systems offers C1000-8FP-2G-L new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to 3-year extended warranty for new units or up to 1 year for refurbished units. Every condition has 30-day returns; terms apply. Cisco's Enhanced Limited Lifetime warranty covers eligible original end users subject to discontinuance limits; Cisco service ends April 30, 2030.
