N2K-B22HP-P has a 2:1 host-to-fabric design, so concurrent server traffic must be sized against available fabric throughput. The Nexus B22HP receives its software image and configuration from its parent switch rather than maintaining an independent switch configuration. Even traffic between servers attached to the same fabric extender passes through the parent for forwarding and policy enforcement.

For a spare held against an existing HP BladeSystem c3000 or c7000 enclosure, the interconnect position must match the server adapter mapping. Record the enclosure, occupied bay and blade NIC connections in the spare request, then verify that mapping before the PO.
When staging a replacement module, powering the enclosure does not establish a usable fabric connection. The parent switch must associate the fabric extender with its connected interface and chassis ID. Include parent-side discovery and association checks in the acceptance scope before specifying the replacement order.
Independent switching without a parent
N2K-B22HP-P requires a parent Cisco Nexus switch for forwarding, including communication between attached servers. The module cannot replace an independently operating blade switch.

N2K-B22HP-P identifies the Cisco Nexus B22 Fabric Extender for HP: B22 identifies the blade fabric-extender family and HP identifies the enclosure vendor. The complete P ordering form is the fabric extender itself. N2K-B22HP-P= is the spare form, not a different port configuration.
N2K-B22HP-P is managed through its parent Cisco Nexus switch using CLI, Cisco DCNM, CiscoWorks, SNMP v1/v2/v3 and XML NETCONF interfaces.
