21000 Gbps maximum system switching capacity describes an equipped configuration, not forwarding capability supplied by an empty enclosure. The passive midplane interconnects modules, while switching takes place through ASICs on the installed I/O and fabric hardware. Six fabric positions accommodate the switching fabric separately from the front-accessible interface modules. N77-C7706 supports N77-C7706-FAB-2 and N77-C7706-FAB-3 fabric modules. Supervisors, I/O modules and power supplies are accessible from the front; fabric hardware and cooling components are accessible from the rear.
