SG110D-08-UK is a fanless, unmanaged Layer 2 desktop switch with eight Gigabit copper connections for locally powered office equipment. The Cisco 110 Series model provides basic Ethernet connectivity without configuration. An ordinary Ethernet port connects the desktop installation to the existing network; there is no separate uplink module to order. The discontinued SG110D-08HP-UK differs by providing PoE on selected ports. This eight-port Gigabit desktop switch serves purchases where straightforward connectivity, rather than configurable network services, is the requirement.

16 Gbps switching capacity provides the aggregate switching figure for traffic planning. 11.9 Mpps forwarding applies to 64-byte packets, allowing a separate comparison of small-packet processing requirements. SG110D-08-UK supports automatic MDI/MDI-X and speed autonegotiation for compatible copper connections. Priority handling uses IEEE 802.1p, four hardware queues, priority queuing, and Weighted Round-Robin scheduling. Head-of-line blocking prevention, loop detection, and cable diagnostics address local traffic and connection problems. These automatic functions do not turn the unmanaged hardware into a configurable routed-access switch.
