SG500X-24MPP-K9 combines 24 Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ access ports with four fixed 10G SFP+ uplinks in a rack-mount chassis. The 500X switch supports managed access switching with static routing and RIP, placing it in the Layer 2+ category. Two uplink cages also serve stacking connections, so the intended topology determines how many remain available for upstream links. The discontinued SG500X-24P-K9 has the same access-port density but a lower 375W PoE budget. Cisco 500X switching accommodates powered phones, wireless access points and surveillance endpoints without requiring a removable uplink card. The copper access connections remain Gigabit Ethernet rather than multigigabit, while the fiber-facing uplinks provide the higher-speed network connections.

128 Gbps switching capacity and 95.24 Mpps forwarding support wire-speed packet handling across the switch interfaces. 740W of PoE capacity supplies the powered access connections, while static IPv4/IPv6 routing, RIPv2 and VRRP provide local routing and gateway-redundancy functions. SG500X-24MPP-K9 carries 256 MB of memory and 32 MB of flash for its embedded software and configuration storage. A dynamically shared 12Mb packet buffer accommodates traffic arriving across multiple interfaces. The forwarding database holds 16384 MAC entries, and VLAN support extends to 4096 VLANs. STP, RSTP and MSTP provide spanning-tree choices; LACP supports aggregated links for connections requiring multiple physical interfaces. Browser-based administration, a scriptable CLI and SNMP provide configuration and monitoring paths. Three internal fans provide active cooling, and the operating range reaches 50°C, making ventilation and cabinet temperature part of installation planning.
SG500X-24MPP-K9 is offered new sealed or certified refurbished, with ORM warranties of up to a 3-year extended term for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed port links, clean boot, PoE output under load on every powered port, optics recognition, PSU and fan status; firmware is verified and configurations are wiped to factory default. Cisco's limited lifetime hardware warranty ended April 30, 2023; ORM provides 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply. Specify condition and accessory PIDs on the PO; enterprise and volume orders support PO acceptance, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement across UK, EU, US and MEA.

When an existing installation adds phones, cameras or wireless access points, endpoint power requirements become a purchase-order input rather than an afterthought. Each powered connection supports a 30W maximum. Record the required draw of each endpoint and identify any device exceeding that individual limit before specifying the order.
When replacement equipment must reproduce an established configuration before installation, dual software images support a staged firmware workflow. Editable text configuration files also support preparing consistent settings outside the web interface. Specify the required configuration baseline and verify the selected boot image during acceptance before releasing equipment for installation.
When a branch rollout separates routine operation from administrative changes, CLI privilege levels 1, 7 and 15 provide distinct access levels. The scriptable Textview CLI supports full and menu-based operation. Define the required administrative roles and configuration workflow before specifying credentials and acceptance checks on the purchase order.
Ongoing Cisco hardware support
Cisco service ended April 30, 2023. C1300-24FP-4X is the current migration option for buyers requiring a newer 24-port Gigabit PoE configuration with four 10G SFP+ uplinks.
More than 30W per endpoint
The powered access ports support a maximum of 30W each. A larger aggregate power budget does not increase that individual-port ceiling for higher-draw endpoints.
Fanless operation in occupied spaces
Three internal fans provide active cooling. Installations requiring a completely fanless switch cannot use this model, regardless of the available rack space or endpoint count.

SG500X-24MPP-K9 identifies the 24-port Gigabit PoE+ configuration with a 740W power budget and four 10G SFP+ connections. SG500X identifies the Gigabit configuration with 10G uplinks, 24 indicates access-port count, and MPP distinguishes this higher-budget powered configuration from the 24P model.
SG500X-24MPP-K9 supports a web UI over HTTP/HTTPS, a serial console, CLI access over SSH or Telnet, and SNMP versions 1, 2c and 3. Full and menu-based CLI operation are available. The switch also supports Cisco OnPlus integration and single-IP stack management.
SG500X-24MPP-K9 is discontinued, with end of sale on April 12, 2018, and Cisco support ending April 30, 2023. Cisco service has ended. The migration chain proceeds through discontinued 550X and Business 350 equipment to the current C1300-24FP-4X configuration.
ORM Systems offers SG500X-24MPP-K9 new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units. Returns are available for 30 days on every condition; terms apply. Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware warranty ended April 30, 2023.
740W is available across the 24 PoE+ access ports on SG500X-24MPP-K9, with a maximum of 30W per powered port. Endpoint selection must respect both the individual-port limit and the aggregate budget. The larger supply allocation does not raise the maximum available from one port.
SG500X-24MPP-K9 supports SFP-10G-SR for multimode fiber and SFP-10G-LR for single-mode fiber in its fixed 10G SFP+ cages. Optical transceivers are separate connection components rather than removable uplink cards. Specify the selected transceiver PID and matching fiber connection when preparing the purchase order.
Eight members can form an SG500X-24MPP-K9 hardware stack. Stack connections share uplink cages, so topology affects remaining upstream connections. Copper connection choices include SFP-H10GB-CU1M, SFP-H10GB-CU3M and SFP-H10GB-CU5M. Mixed 500 and 500X stacking uses different interconnect speeds from an all-500X 10G stack.
SG500X-24MPP-K9 supports static IPv4/IPv6 routing, RIPv2 and VRRP. IPv4 static routing supports 2048 routes, while VRRP provides gateway redundancy. These functions support local routed connections without changing the Gigabit access-port speed. The routing feature set places this configuration in the Layer 2+ category.
The Cisco 500X switch uses a rack-mount chassis measuring 440 mm wide, 44 mm high and 350 mm deep for this configuration. Weight is 4.61 kg. Three internal fans provide active cooling, so cabinet planning must accommodate ventilation rather than treating the unit as fanless.
SG500X-24MPP-K9 uses an internal AC power supply accepting 100-240V AC. Maximum consumption including PoE is 851.08W at 110V, compared with 825.91W at 220V. Use the applicable input-voltage figure when sizing the electrical feed rather than using the endpoint power budget alone.
SG500X-24MPP-K9 provides a 740W PoE budget, whereas SG500X-24P-K9 provides 375W; both have 24 Gigabit powered access ports and four 10G SFP+ connections. Both models are discontinued. The MPP configuration addresses larger aggregate endpoint power requirements, while the 24P configuration corresponds to lower-power legacy installations.
SG500X-24MPP-K9 has 24 Gigabit PoE+ access ports, while SG500X-48MP-K9 has 48. Both configurations carry a 740W PoE budget and are discontinued. The 24-port model corresponds to smaller existing connection layouts; the 48-port model accommodates more connections without increasing the aggregate endpoint power allocation.
SG500X-24MPP-K9 passed its final Cisco support date on April 30, 2023, while C1300-24FP-4X is the current migration option. Both configurations provide 24 Gigabit powered access connections and four 10G SFP+ uplinks. Legacy exact-model requirements favor the former; purchases requiring a current model favor the latter.
