SG500X-24 combines Gigabit copper access with fixed 10G SFP+ connectivity in a managed, non-PoE switch. Its 24 access ports serve externally powered endpoints, while four network-capable SFP+ ports provide uplink connections; two of those ports can also serve the stack. The 500X model belongs to the Cisco 500 Series Stackable Managed Switches family and uses a full-width 1U rack chassis rather than a compact desktop enclosure. Hardware stacking joins eight members into one managed system. This Layer 2+ configuration supports local routing alongside Layer 2 switching. The discontinued SG500X-24P adds PoE+ and a shared 375W endpoint-power budget. SG500X-24 carries 256 MB of memory and 32 MB of flash for its embedded firmware and configuration storage. SG500X-24 identifies a 500X Gigabit managed switch with 24 access ports and 10-Gigabit SFP+ connectivity. The SG500X prefix identifies the Gigabit model group with 10G uplinks, while -24 identifies the access-port count. The corresponding orderable hardware identifier is SG500X-24-K9. This model does not supply endpoint PoE.
SG500X-24 is managed through an HTTP/HTTPS web interface, Textview CLI over SSH or Telnet, a serial console, and SNMP v1/v2c/v3. Textview offers full and menu-based CLI modes. The 500 series also supports Cisco FindIT discovery and Cisco OnPlus integration; local management does not depend on cloud integration.
SG500X-24 is discontinued, and Cisco service ended April 30, 2023. The 500 series end-of-sale date was April 12, 2018. The current migration model is C1300-24T-4X, which retains 24 Gigabit access ports and four 10G SFP+ uplinks for a current-generation replacement purchase.

Copper options are SFP-H10GB-CU1M, SFP-H10GB-CU3M, and SFP-H10GB-CU5M. Mixing 500 and 500X models changes the permitted interconnect choices, so match cable selection to all members.
SG500X-24 supports static IPv4 routing, static IPv6 routing, RIP v2, and VRRP v2/v3. IPv4 static routing supports 2048 routes, while IPv6 static routing also supports 2048 routes. These capabilities place the switch in the Layer 2+ category; routing plans must stay within the supported protocols and interface limits.
SG500X-24P supplies PoE+ across its 24 Gigabit access ports with a shared 375W budget, while SG500X-24 does not supply endpoint power. SG500X-24P is discontinued. The non-PoE model suits externally powered endpoints; the PoE model suits installed-base requirements that need power delivered over the access cable.
