SG500-28P identifies the Gigabit 500 Series powered model: 28 covers 24 access ports plus four uplinks, and P identifies PoE+. SG500-28P-K9 is its associated ordering identity.
SG500-28P supports a web UI, Textview CLI, SSH, Telnet and SNMP management. FindIT provides discovery, and Cisco OnPlus integration is supported.
SG500-28P is discontinued: sales ended April 12, 2018, and Cisco support ended April 30, 2023. Migration has progressed beyond the discontinued 550X and Cisco Business 350 families to C1300-24P-4X. New sealed inventory does not restart Cisco support.

SG500-28P powers attached endpoints, while SG500-28 does not. Both belong to the discontinued 500 Series and retain the same access-port density. The powered model suits legacy PoE endpoints; the unpowered sibling suits connections where endpoint power comes from elsewhere.
SG500-28P has 24 Gigabit access ports, while SG500-52P has 48. Both models are discontinued. The smaller model addresses legacy installations with fewer access connections; the larger sibling addresses higher connection counts. Select by required access-port density rather than treating the model numbers as copper-port counts.
C1300-24P-4X provides four 10G SFP+ uplinks, while SG500-28P provides Gigabit uplinks. C1300-24P-4X is the current migration endpoint after the discontinued intermediate models. The older unit suits legacy Gigabit uplink requirements; the current replacement suits buyers specifying 10G connections to distribution.
