WS-C3850-24T-L is a data-only enterprise access switch with 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports and the LAN Base feature set. Limited Static routing makes the as-shipped configuration Layer 2+, while its modular uplink architecture permits 1G or 10G connections through a separately selected network module. The Catalyst 3850 occupies one rack unit and serves endpoints that receive power independently of their Ethernet connection. The discontinued WS-C3850-24P-L adds PoE+ where this model provides data-only access. LAN Base does not include the dynamic-routing capabilities of higher software tiers, so a purchase for routed access must distinguish the installed feature set from capabilities available through an upgrade.
WS-C3850-24T-L price for new stock is $1,281.00, a 75.4% saving from the Cisco list price of $5,200.00. WS-C3850-24T-L refurb price is $168.00. WS-C3850-24T-L is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

92 Gbps switching capacity applies to the 24-port Gigabit configuration. 68.4 Mpps forwarding is specified with two 10G and two 1G uplinks, making uplink population relevant when comparing throughput. 84.97W is the maximum under the 100%-traffic test with C3850-NM-2-10G at 115V AC, rather than the output rating of PWR-C1-350WAC. WS-C3850-24T-L contains 4 GB DRAM and 2 GB flash for its Cisco IOS XE operating environment. Cisco UADP forwarding supports 32000 MAC entries, while LAN Base limits active VLANs to 255. The hardware's 24000-entry IPv4 total includes ARP and learned routes; that total does not expand the installed routing entitlement. LACP groups Ethernet links, and MSTP and PVRST+ control Layer 2 topology. DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection and port security provide access-edge controls. Administrative access includes the CLI and Cisco Prime Infrastructure; SSH and encrypted SNMPv3 require the cryptographic software image.
Order WS-C3850-24T-L from ORM Systems in new sealed or certified refurbished condition, specifying the condition and required accessory PIDs before issuing the purchase order. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, including module bay recognition and stack adapter negotiation, with firmware verified and configurations wiped to factory default. ORM warranties are up to a three-year extended term for new units and up to one year for certified refurbished units, with 30-day returns on either condition, terms apply; Cisco service and warranty support ended October 31, 2025. Enterprise and volume POs are accepted, with Net-30 for government and RMA with advance replacement.

In a multinational corporation’s regional office, network architects deploy the WS-C3850-24T-L Cisco Catalyst 3850 24 Port Data LAN Base as the campus edge switch. By leveraging StackWise-480 stacking, redundant uplinks, and industry-leading QoS, this solution ensures uninterrupted connectivity for VoIP phones, video conferencing systems, and employee workstations. Outcome: 99.999% network uptime, simplified switch management via Cisco DNA Center, and seamless capacity scaling with zero-touch provisioning.
A commercial property management team integrates the WS-C3850-24T-L Catalyst 3850 switch to power IP cameras, wireless access points, and IoT sensors across a smart building. With 370W PoE budget and intelligent PoE+ port management, IT staff can remotely schedule power resets, monitor draw per port, and prioritize critical devices. Outcome: centralized energy control, reduced downtime for security and connectivity services, and optimized operational expenses through automated PoE scheduling.
A financial services firm outfits its branch locations with the WS-C3850-24T-L to enforce multi-layer security policies at the network edge. Using TrustSec segmentation, built-in AVC (Application Visibility and Control), and MACsec encryption between switches, the Catalyst 3850 isolates sensitive data flows and prevents lateral threat movement. Outcome: regulatory compliance with PCI DSS, real-time threat detection and mitigation, and centralized policy deployment that reduces security administration overhead by 40%.
When replacing a discontinued WS-C3750X-24T-L, WS-C3850-24T-L is its named migration model, but the replacement has also passed Cisco's support endpoint. Treat procurement as a like-for-like legacy hardware purchase: stage the existing configuration, inventory the required accessories and confirm the organization's acceptance of unsupported equipment before issuing the PO.
When extending an existing Catalyst 3850 stack, mixed LAN Base and IP Base or IP Services members are unsupported. Identify the active feature set before procurement, and specify STACK-T1-50CM=, STACK-T1-1M= or STACK-T1-3M= against the actual inter-switch distances on the purchase order.
When stocking replacement units across UK, EU, US and MEA operations, ORM Systems offers regional stock and RMA handling with advance replacement. Set the spare quantity, delivery region and required condition before procurement, then place those requirements on the PO rather than treating new sealed and certified refurbished units as interchangeable.
PoE power for connected endpoints
WS-C3850-24T-L does not deliver endpoint power. C9300-24P-E provides 24 PoE+ access ports with Network Essentials for a migration that also changes the software tier.
Four native 10G uplinks
WS-C3850-24T-L supports C3850-NM-2-10G for two 10G uplinks, not C3850-NM-4-10G. Four native 10G uplinks are outside the supported module configuration for this model.
Dynamic routing in the base configuration
LAN Base provides limited Static routing. OSPF, EIGRP, BGPv4 and IS-ISv4 require higher feature sets, so these protocols are unavailable in the as-shipped configuration.
Active Cisco hardware service coverage
Cisco service for WS-C3850-24T-L ended October 31, 2025. C9300-24T-E is the named migration model, retaining 24 data-only access ports while changing to Network Essentials.

WS-C3850-24T-L identifies a Catalyst 3850 with 24 data-only 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports and LAN Base. WS-C3850 names the switch family, 24 is the access-port count, T identifies the data-port variant and L selects LAN Base. The configuration includes PWR-C1-350WAC and occupies one rack unit.
WS-C3850-24T-L supports CLI management through the console, SSH or Telnet, plus SNMP and Cisco Prime Infrastructure. SSH and encrypted SNMPv3 require the cryptographic software image. Select the management access method and authentication policy before staging; the external management system is separate from the switch's hardware configuration.
WS-C3850-24T-L includes LAN Base; RTU upgrades enable IP Base or IP Services, while Cisco DNA Essentials and Cisco DNA Advantage are separate three- or five-year add-ons. Smart Accounts manage those entitlements. At add-on expiry, renew or deactivate and reload to retain base capabilities; LAN Base does not require an add-on.
WS-C3850-24T-L is discontinued: end of sale was October 30, 2020, and Cisco service and warranty support ended October 31, 2025. Security support also ended October 31, 2025. C9300-24T-E is the named replacement, with data-only access and Network Essentials rather than LAN Base.
WS-C3850-24T-L replaces WS-C3750X-24T-L, whose end-of-sale date was October 30, 2016. That predecessor is discontinued, and the replacement model has since reached its own support endpoint. Treat the change as a staged hardware replacement: record the existing configuration and inventory the required accessories before issuing the PO.
WS-C3850-24T-L supports C3850-NM-4-1G for four 1G uplinks or C3850-NM-2-10G for two 10G uplinks. The base order has an empty network-module bay, so uplink capability requires a separate module. Specify the module PID and compatible optics on the same purchase order; four 10G uplinks are unsupported.
WS-C3850-24T-L uses StackWise-480 to stack nine members with 480 Gbps stacking bandwidth and matching software feature sets. STACK-T1-50CM=, STACK-T1-1M= and STACK-T1-3M= are the stacking-cable options. LAN Base cannot mix with IP Base or IP Services in the same stack; select cable lengths against rack spacing before ordering.
WS-C3850-24T-L ships with one PWR-C1-350WAC, while the second internal power-supply bay accepts an optional supply. PWR-C1-350WAC= is the spare PID. A single installed supply belongs in bay 1; redundant internal power is not included in the base configuration, so specify the additional supply separately.
WS-C3850-24T-L supports limited Static routing with LAN Base, making the as-shipped configuration Layer 2+ rather than a full dynamic-routing switch. OSPF for routed access belongs to IP Base, while full OSPF, EIGRP, BGPv4 and IS-ISv4 require IP Services. Confirm the feature set before planning routed access.
WS-C3850-24P-L supplies PoE+ on its 24 access ports, whereas WS-C3850-24T-L is data-only. Both use LAN Base, and both are discontinued. The data model suits externally powered endpoints; the PoE+ model addresses endpoint-power requirements in an existing installation, with C9300-24P-E serving as its named migration model.
WS-C3850-24T-S includes IP Base, while WS-C3850-24T-L includes LAN Base. IP Base adds entry-level Layer 3 capabilities and routed-access OSPF; LAN Base provides limited Static routing. Both models are discontinued: LAN Base fits matching-feature-set spares, while IP Base fits an existing installation requiring its higher feature set.
C9300-24T-E carries Network Essentials instead of the LAN Base feature set on WS-C3850-24T-L. Both are 24-port data-only configurations, but the Catalyst 3850 model is discontinued and Cisco support has ended. The older model fits like-for-like legacy replacement purchases; C9300-24T-E is the named migration choice with a different network tier.
ORM Systems offers WS-C3850-24T-L new sealed with up to a three-year extended warranty or certified refurbished with up to one year. Returns are 30 days for either condition; terms apply. Cisco's Enhanced Limited Lifetime hardware warranty ended October 31, 2025. Refurbished units are inspected, bench-tested, firmware verified and wiped to factory default.
