WS-CAC-6000W is a 6000W AC internal power supply for Catalyst 6500 chassis, with two AC inputs and hot-swap operation. It fits Catalyst 6506, 6506-E, 6509, 6509-E, 6509-NEB, 6509-NEB-A, 6509-V-E, 6513 and 6513-E switches. The 6506, 6509 and 6509-NEB cap output at 4000W, and the 6509-NEB-A caps output at 4500W. This Cisco Catalyst 6500 power supply also fits Cisco OSR-7609, 7609 and 7613 chassis builds. A failed unit can be removed without powering off the system. A high-speed fan tray is required in the host. A second equal supply supports redundant mode; combined mode uses both supplies for the installed module load. WS-CAC-8700W-E is the higher AC option and uses three AC inputs.

6000W operation requires both inputs on high-line 230V AC; 2900W operation applies with two 120V AC inputs or one 230V AC input. 90-132V AC low-line and 170-264V AC high-line ranges set the circuit check before the PO. 16A each input requires a dedicated 20A North American branch circuit per input. WS-CAC-6000W uses IEC 320-C19 input receptacles and 16A cord sets. 20 ms minimum hold-up time covers the supply during a short input transfer. The 6000W output rails are 25A at +3.3V DC, 12A at +12V DC and 137.4A at +42V DC. The integrated fan reports status through FAN OK, and the host needs the high-speed fan tray. 0°C to 40°C rack temperature is the operating window. PWR-6000-DC is the -48V-class counterpart for DC sites.

Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested in a compatible host or on a load tester; hot insertion and removal are verified in a live host, and output is held at rated voltage under load. Cisco service ended on October 31, 2025. A sparing pool for Catalyst 6500 or Cisco 7600 chassis needs tested units rather than new Cisco service coverage. Before the PO, match WS-CAC-6000W to the chassis label and cord plan in each site.
A failed 6000W AC module in a Catalyst 6506-E, 6509-E, 6509-V-E, 6513 or 6513-E chassis can be replaced without powering off the system. Specify WS-CAC-6000W and the same AC cord set for each input before the PO.
A single-supply Catalyst 6500 chassis can take a second matching unit for redundant mode. Equal wattage lets each supply carry about half the load and leaves one unit able to carry the system. Match WS-CAC-6000W wattage, cords and chassis output limit before the PO.
Catalyst 6503 or 6503-E chassis
WS-CAC-6000W does not fit these chassis; the 6503 family uses PWR-1400-AC with the matching power entry module instead of the 6000W bay form.

Yes, WS-CAC-6000W can mix with DC-input power supplies in the same Catalyst 6500 chassis. Redundant mode works best with equal wattage. Unequal wattage can disable the lower supply or leave the smaller unit unable to carry the load after the larger unit fails.
