Forty-eight 10/100/1000 downlinks serve powered edge endpoints, while the empty uplink bay accepts C9200-NM-4G, C9200-NM-4X, C9200-NM-2Y or C9200-NM-2Q network modules instead of fixed uplinks. That design leaves distribution-side fiber speed to the selected network module rather than locking the purchase to a fixed uplink code. The Catalyst 9200 chassis is rack-mount 1U and ships with Network Essentials, so it fits wiring closets that need PoE+ access, StackWise-160 operations and a choice of uplink speed at order time. C9200-48T-E removes PoE for data-only access runs on the same modular-uplink chassis.

176 Gbps switching capacity and 130.95 Mpps forwarding support the 48 Gigabit access ports before stacking, and stacked operation raises the figures to 336 Gbps and 250 Mpps. 740W of available PoE power is delivered from the default PWR-C6-1KWAC; adding a second PWR-C6-1KWAC brings the allocation to 1440W for full 30W-per-port planning. Static, RIPv1, RIPv2, RIPng and OSPF Routed Access are included under Network Essentials, with Cisco Express Forwarding hardware routing and a 14000-route IPv4 table. C9200-48P-E uses 4 GB DRAM, 4 GB flash, 32000 MAC addresses, 4094 VLAN IDs, 512 SVIs and 6 MB packet buffers. WebUI, local console, SSH, CLI, Catalyst Center and Meraki dashboard options cover local and centralized management, while StackWise-160 uses C9200-STACK-KIT with STACK-T4-50CM, STACK-T4-1M or STACK-T4-3M cables for up to eight same-license C9200 members.
