CBS250-16P-2G is a fanless, smart-managed Layer 2+ desktop switch with 16 Gigabit copper PoE+ access ports and two fixed 1G SFP uplinks. Separate fiber interfaces leave the copper ports available for computers, phones, wireless access points and cameras. The compact chassis belongs to the Cisco Business 250 Series and provides powered access without a removable uplink expansion bay. Unlike the discontinued CBS250-16T-2G, this model supplies endpoint power rather than providing data-only connections. Within the Cisco Business portfolio, the configuration serves small offices and business networks combining powered devices with ordinary Ethernet endpoints. Select this configuration around the required copper connections, endpoint power demands and Gigabit upstream links rather than expecting higher-speed uplinks or chassis expansion.

36 Gbps switching capacity provides a nonblocking fabric for simultaneous port traffic. 26.78 Mpps forwarding with 64-byte packets provides the packet-rate measure for small-frame workloads. 120W of shared PoE output limits aggregate endpoint allocation; individual port capability does not mean every endpoint can receive maximum power simultaneously. Static IPv4 routing supports 32 routes, while dynamic routing protocols are absent. CBS250-16P-2G carries 512 MB of DRAM and 256 MB of flash, with a 1.5 MB packet buffer shared across its interfaces. STP, RSTP and MSTP provide loop prevention, while LACP supports link aggregation. The forwarding database accommodates 8000 MAC addresses, and 255 active VLANs separate traffic domains. Eight hardware queues prioritize traffic, and ingress or egress access control lists restrict permitted flows. 156.4W maximum consumption with PoE is the figure to use when sizing upstream AC power capacity, rather than treating the endpoint power budget as total switch draw.
New sealed and certified refurbished CBS250-16P-2G units carry ORM warranties of up to a 3-year extended term and up to 1 year, respectively; both conditions include 30-day returns, terms apply. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on, POST, clean boot, rated-speed links on every port and PoE output under load on every powered port; firmware is verified and configurations are wiped to factory default. CBS250-16P-2G identifies a Cisco Business 250 switch with 16 copper access ports, PoE+ output and two Gigabit SFP uplinks. CBS250 identifies the series, 16 the access-port count, P the powered-port configuration and 2G the two Gigabit uplinks. Regional ordering suffixes specify the destination market.
Cisco Business 250 switches are managed through the HTTP/HTTPS web interface, CLI over the RJ-45 console, SSH or Telnet, Cisco Business Dashboard, Cisco Business mobile app and SNMP. Choose the access method your operations team will maintain, and include management addressing and authentication settings in the deployment configuration.
CBS250-16P-2G is discontinued; the North American CBS250-16P-2G-NA ended sale on October 29, 2024. Software maintenance and security remedies ended October 29, 2025, while the last date of Cisco support is October 31, 2029. C1200-16P-2G is the current replacement for purchases that do not require the older model.
No additional license or subscription is required for CBS250-16P-2G, and all switch features are included in the hardware purchase. CBS250-16P-2G provides a shared 120W PoE budget across 16 powered access ports, with a maximum of 30W on an individual port. The total allocation must remain within the shared budget. Check the combined requirements of phones, access points and cameras rather than assuming every port can simultaneously supply 30W.
CBS250-16P-2G supports Gigabit SFP options including MGBSX1 for multimode fiber and MGBLX1 for single-mode fiber. MGBSX1 supports distances to 500 m, while MGBLX1 supports distances to 10 km.
