CBS250-24T-4G is a fanless, Layer 2+ smart managed switch with 24 Gigabit RJ-45 access ports and four fixed 1G SFP uplinks in a rack-mount 1U chassis. The non-PoE configuration connects locally powered computers, printers and servers without supplying endpoint power over Ethernet. Cisco Business 250 Series smart switches serve small-business networks that need configurable traffic handling rather than unmanaged connectivity. Copper access and separate fiber uplinks let the buyer specify endpoint connections independently from the connection toward the rest of the network. The discontinued CBS250-24P-4G adds PoE+ for Ethernet-powered endpoints; this model keeps its access ports data-only. Neither configuration should be substituted for the other without checking how attached equipment receives power.

56 Gbps switching capacity accommodates traffic across the copper and fiber connections, while 41.66 Mpps forwarding applies to 64-byte packets. Static IPv4 routing supports 32 routes, placing a finite limit on manually maintained destinations rather than providing a dynamic routing design. STP/RSTP/MSTP support loop control, and LACP supports aggregated links between compatible network devices. CBS250-24T-4G provides 512 MB of DRAM and 256 MB of flash for its management and firmware functions. Browser configuration, a scriptable CLI and SNMP provide different operating workflows within the Business 250 series. Decide which workflow will own configuration changes before loading a production configuration, and keep administrator access separate from ordinary endpoint traffic. For a routed installation, review the required destinations and next hops before treating local switching as a replacement for the upstream router. The upstream design must still account for functions outside static route forwarding.

When a small office needs communication between separate workgroups, the switch supports 16 IP interfaces for a bounded routed configuration. Map the required interfaces and next hops before replacing an existing arrangement, and retain the upstream router for external traffic and security functions. Specify the intended interface configuration before the PO.
When several sites need the same configuration approach, Cisco Network Plug and Play and text-editable configuration files support repeatable provisioning. CLI privilege levels 1, 7 and 15 allow different administrator permissions. CBS250-24T-4G identifies a Business 250 smart switch: CBS250 is the series, 24 is the copper access port count, T identifies the non-PoE Gigabit configuration, and 4G specifies four Gigabit SFP uplinks. United States orders use CBS250-24T-4G-NA, with NA identifying the regional ordering variant.
CBS250-24T-4G supports a web interface over HTTP/HTTPS, CLI through its RJ-45 console or SSH/Telnet, SNMP, Cisco Business Dashboard and the Cisco Business mobile app. The CLI supports scriptable and menu-based operation; choose the access method and administrator permissions before loading a production configuration.
CBS250-24T-4G is discontinued: United States end of sale was October 29, 2024.
