N3K-C3164Q-40GE identifies a Nexus 3164Q chassis with 64 QSFP+ ports in a 2U enclosure. The 3164Q segment is the model designation, and 40GE refers to native 40 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. Advanced routing is not bundled through this chassis designation; N3K-LAN1K9 is the separate LAN Enterprise license.
The Nexus 3164Q is managed through CLI over serial console, SSHv2 or Telnet, plus NX-API, XML NETCONF, SNMPv1/v2/v3 and Python scripting. Cisco DCNM LAN, Cisco Prime Infrastructure and the OpenStack networking plug-in are supported management paths. Bash shell access and POAP provide additional automation and initial deployment options.
N3K-C3164Q-40GE is discontinued: Cisco end of sale was October 31, 2019, and the last date of support was October 31, 2024. Cisco service and vulnerability/security support have ended.
