N56-M24UP2Q is a unified-port expansion module for the discontinued Cisco Nexus 56128P, not a standalone switch. Its fixed interfaces comprise 24 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ unified ports and two native 40 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP+ ports. The Nexus 5600 module adds Ethernet and storage connectivity within an existing chassis rather than providing a separately powered rack-mounted system. Buyers extending an installed system should specify this expansion module separately from the host chassis and the optical connections required for deployment.
N56-M24UP2Q price for new stock is $301.34, a 96.9% saving from the Cisco list price of $9,736.84. N56-M24UP2Q refurb price is $139.77. N56-M24UP2Q is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

2-, 4- and 8-Gbps native Fibre Channel modes provide storage connection options on the unified SFP+ interfaces. DS-SFP-FC8G-SW provides an 8-Gbps shortwave optical option, while DS-SFP-FC8G-LW provides the corresponding longwave option. N56-M24UP2Q is configured through its host rather than through a separate management endpoint. Host administration includes the console CLI, SSHv2, Telnet, SNMP and XML NETCONF; Cisco Prime DCNM supplies a graphical management path. Select the operating mode and compatible optical part numbers before assigning connections to the module.
N56-M24UP2Q is offered new sealed or certified refurbished, with ORM warranty coverage of up to 3 years extended for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units; every condition has 30-day returns, terms apply. Certified refurbished modules are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, clean boot, every port linking at rated speed, and optics bay recognition. Specify condition, quantity and required connections on the PO; Cisco's original 1-year limited hardware warranty no longer provides coverage because Cisco service ended September 30, 2025. Enterprise and volume orders support PO acceptance, Net-30 for government, RMA with advance replacement, and regional stock/RMA across UK, EU, US and MEA.

When an existing Nexus 56128P needs additional connections, the chassis provides two GEM bays and accepts this module in either position. An occupied bay constrains further expansion, so check the installed module inventory and identify the target bay before issuing the purchase order.
When purchasing maintenance spares for an installed chassis, replacement work must account for the expansion module's removal procedure. The module must be powered off before removal, although the chassis can remain powered. Specify the spare quantity and include module shutdown in the maintenance plan.
Standalone switching without a host chassis
N56-M24UP2Q operates only in a Nexus 56128P chassis and cannot serve as an independently powered switch. The module alone does not constitute a complete switching system.
Deployment requiring active Cisco hardware support
Cisco hardware support for N56-M24UP2Q ended September 30, 2025. Cisco names no replacement expansion module for this discontinued part.

N56-M24UP2Q identifies a Nexus 56128P expansion module with 24 unified SFP+ ports and two fixed QSFP+ ports. The 24UP and 2Q segments correspond to those interface groups. The complete part number specifies module hardware, rather than a standalone switch chassis or a bundled software license tier.
N56-M24UP2Q is managed through its host chassis using the NX-OS CLI over console, SSHv2 or Telnet, with in-band and out-of-band access. Other host management paths include SNMP, XML NETCONF, Cisco Fabric Manager, Cisco Prime DCNM and CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution; the module is not an independent management endpoint.
N56-M24UP2Q is discontinued: Cisco ended sales September 9, 2020, and hardware support September 30, 2025. Cisco names no replacement expansion module for this PID. A purchase therefore extends an existing installation without restoring manufacturer service eligibility or establishing a current-generation expansion path for the module.
New sealed and certified refurbished N56-M24UP2Q units carry ORM warranties of up to 3 years extended and up to 1 year, respectively. Returns are accepted for 30 days in either condition; terms apply. Cisco's original 1-year limited hardware warranty no longer provides coverage because Cisco service ended September 30, 2025.
N56-M24UP2Q requires the host's Storage Protocols Services Package entitlements for native Fibre Channel and FCoE operation. Nexus 5600 software was offered through individual feature licenses or Cisco ONE Software for Data Center Networking. Confirm the installed host's entitlements before treating a hardware-only module purchase as sufficient for storage deployment.
The Nexus 56128P expansion module is supported only in the Nexus 56128P chassis and fits either of its two expansion bays. Compatibility does not extend across the Nexus family merely because another chassis has an expansion slot. Confirm the host model and bay availability before specifying the module.
N56-M24UP2Q supports native Fibre Channel at 2, 4 and 8 Gbps through its unified SFP+ interfaces. Those interfaces also provide Ethernet and FCoE operating options. Specify the intended storage mode, compatible optical PID and host storage entitlements rather than assuming every SFP+ connection uses Ethernet signaling.
The Nexus 56128P requires at least two chassis power supplies when N56-M24UP2Q is installed. NXA-PAC-1100W uses port-side exhaust airflow, while NXA-PAC-1100W-B uses port-side intake. Match the installed chassis airflow direction and confirm the host power configuration before adding an expansion module to the purchase order.
The Nexus 56128P expansion module must be powered off before removal; operating-module hot swap is not supported. The chassis itself can remain powered during that procedure. Plan the module shutdown before replacement, and distinguish this requirement from the removal procedures for chassis power or cooling components.
N56-M24UP2Q modules with top assembly number 68-5671-01 are incompatible with Nexus 56128P chassis assemblies 68-5193-02 and 68-5193-03. The affected pairing can prevent the module from coming online. Match both assembly numbers before ordering a spare; the module PID alone does not resolve this hardware-revision constraint.
