N9K-C9336C-FX2-E is a fixed-port data center switch with 36 native 40/100G QSFP28 interfaces in a 1U rack chassis. The default NX-OS software provides Layer 2 switching, security and management; additional software entitlements enable advanced functions. The Cisco Nexus 9336C-FX2-E combines Ethernet connectivity with configurable 16/32G Fiber Channel capability, distinguishing the hardware from N9K-C9336C-FX2. The N9300-FX2 series serves data center server connectivity and aggregation rather than powered copper endpoints. Its network interfaces are built into the chassis, not supplied through an optional uplink card.

7200 Gbps switching capacity and forwarding performance exceeding 2400 Mpps support the fixed Ethernet interfaces. N9K-C9336C-FX2-E contains 24 GB of DRAM, a 128 GB SSD and 40 MB of packet buffering. NX-OS supports command-line administration, while the serial console provides the initial configuration path. Out-of-band management uses either the copper management connection or the optical management connection, not both simultaneously. These management interfaces are separate from the network-facing QSFP28 ports. The base software entitlement does not include the additional licensed IP unicast and multicast routing functions.
ORM Systems offers N9K-C9336C-FX2-E new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty on new units and up to 1 year on certified refurbished units; Cisco's separate hardware warranty is 1 year limited. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on, POST, rated-speed port links, optics recognition, PSU status, fan status and clean boot, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify condition, airflow, power configuration, software entitlements and required accessories on the order. Enterprise and volume purchases support PO acceptance, Net-30 for government and RMA with advance replacement across UK, EU, US and MEA; every condition carries 30-day returns, terms apply.
| Key Specs | Key Spec Values |

When switches are staged before shipment, initial configuration begins through the serial console at 9600 baud with eight data bits, one stop bit and no parity. Include CAB-CONSOLE-RJ45 in the staging equipment list, then confirm the management address and saved startup configuration before releasing the PO.
When a rack standard requires input-source redundancy, each installed power supply needs a separate power source; two modules on one circuit do not provide that arrangement. Confirm independent feeds, outlet compatibility and the selected supply configuration in the purchase specification before authorizing the PO.
Native 10GBASE-T server connections
The network-facing interfaces are QSFP28 rather than copper Ethernet. N9K-C93216TC-FX2 provides 96 native copper downlinks and 12 fiber uplinks, but occupies a larger 2U chassis.
Native 400G uplink connections
The fixed network interfaces reach 100G Ethernet, not 400G. A deployment requiring native 400G connections needs different switching hardware; an optical module cannot increase the chassis interface speed.

N9K-C9336C-FX2-E identifies a Nexus 9000 fixed switch with 36 native 40/100G QSFP28 ports. FX2-E identifies this specific hardware variant. The complete part number matters when selecting hardware; the final E should not be treated as a bundled NX-OS software entitlement.
N9K-C9336C-FX2-E supports NX-OS CLI administration through the local console and an out-of-band management connection. Initial setup establishes the management IP address. Use either copper or optical out-of-band management, not both simultaneously; DCNM also provides graphical management for NX-OS deployments.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for N9300-FX2. N9K-C9336C-FX2-E remains listed as available to order. Lifecycle announcements for other Nexus 9000 switches, software releases or chassis components do not establish an end-of-sale date for this particular switch.
ORM Systems offers N9K-C9336C-FX2-E new sealed or certified refurbished. New units have up to a 3-year extended warranty; certified refurbished units have up to 1 year. Cisco separately provides a 1-year limited hardware warranty. Returns are available for 30 days on every condition; terms apply.
N9K-C9336C-FX2-E supports perpetual and subscription licensing, with advanced functions licensed separately from the default system software. Options include NX-OS Essentials and Advantage perpetual entitlements, plus combined ACI and NX-OS Essential and Advantage subscriptions with three-year and five-year terms.
No, the Cisco Nexus 9336C-FX2-E uses only one out-of-band management port at a time. Select the copper connection or the optical connection according to the management network. Establish the initial configuration through the console before configuring the selected management interface.
Yes, the Cisco Nexus 9336C-FX2-E includes two power supplies for operation and redundancy. The supply configuration must match the available input power and cooling direction. Input-source redundancy additionally requires separate power sources, with each installed supply connected to a different feed.
N9K-C9336C-FX2-E adds configurable 16/32G Fiber Channel capability, whereas N9K-C9336C-FX2 does not provide that capability. The E variant addresses buyers evaluating converged Ethernet and storage connectivity; the non-E model addresses Ethernet-only requirements. Required software entitlements remain a separate selection.
N9K-C93360YC-FX2 provides 96 native 1/10/25G interfaces plus 12 native 40/100G interfaces, while N9K-C9336C-FX2-E provides 36 native 40/100G interfaces. The former suits high-density lower-speed fiber attachment; the latter suits deployments organized around a uniform set of higher-speed network interfaces.
N9K-C93216TC-FX2 provides native copper Ethernet downlinks, whereas N9K-C9336C-FX2-E uses QSFP28 network interfaces. The copper model suits direct attachment to 10GBASE-T server connections. The QSFP28 model suits buyers specifying fiber connectivity rather than a chassis populated with copper server-facing ports.
