N9K-C9396PX-B18Q is a two-switch data center bundle containing Nexus 9396PX chassis and eight QSFP-40G-SR-BD transceivers. Each chassis provides 48 fixed 1/10G SFP+ downlinks and an included N9K-M12PQ module with 12 40G QSFP+ uplinks. These non-PoE, 2U switches connect fiber-equipped servers in top-of-rack, middle-of-row, and leaf deployments. The Nexus 9300 pair supports conventional NX-OS operation or an ACI fabric with separately selected software. Base NX-OS functionality provides Layer 2 switching; additional routing depends on licensing. The discontinued N9K-C9372PX-E instead carries six fixed 40G uplinks, a distinction when matching an existing installation's uplink architecture rather than its server-port count.
N9K-C9396PX-B18Q price is $48,510.00. N9K-C9396PX-B18Q is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

1920 Gbps switching capacity and more than 1500 Mpps forwarding per chassis support nonblocking traffic between server-facing interfaces and aggregation connections. 455W maximum AC input draw per chassis establishes the power-circuit sizing reference; 232W typical consumption is not the maximum-load figure. N9K-C9396PX-B18Q provides 16 GB of DRAM and a 64 GB SSD in each switch for control-plane operation and local software storage. A 96000-entry MAC address capacity supports large Layer 2 environments, subject to the selected forwarding mode and software release. Management automation can use JSON or XML remote procedure calls over HTTP/HTTPS. OSPF / EIGRP / BGP require the enhanced routing entitlement N93-LAN1K9 rather than the base software configuration. N9K-M12PQ uplinks do not support four-way 10G breakout, so individual 10G connections belong on the SFP+ downlinks. The 0°C to 40°C operating range also constrains rack inlet conditions.
Specify N9K-C9396PX-B18Q as new sealed or certified refurbished, and put the bundle contents and intended software mode on the PO. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, every port linking at rated speed, and clean boot; firmware is verified and configurations are wiped to factory default. ORM warranty coverage is up to a 3-year extended warranty for new hardware and up to 1 year for certified refurbished hardware, with 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply; Cisco's original 1-year limited hardware warranty and service ended April 30, 2023. POs are accepted for enterprise and volume orders, with Net-30 for government and RMA with advance replacement.

When an ACI lab requires physical leaf switches, the bundle is only one part of the fabric. A complete starter configuration also needs spine switches and a cluster of three APIC controllers. Match the existing controller and spine environment, then specify those components separately before ordering.
When an installed Nexus 9396PX estate needs a regional spare rather than a new architecture, stock and RMA handling spans the UK, EU, US, and MEA. Specify the destination region and required condition, then match the installed airflow configuration before the PO is issued.
Native 25G server connections
Each Nexus 9396PX stops at 10G on its fixed server interfaces. N9K-C93180YC-FX3 provides 48 native 1/10/25G ports; replacing this bundle requires specifying two chassis separately.
Four-way 10G uplink breakout
N9K-M12PQ 40G uplink ports do not support four-way 10G breakout. Individual 10G connections must use suitable SFP+ interfaces rather than four-lane breakout cabling.

N9K-C9396PX-B18Q identifies a two-switch Nexus 9396PX bundle with eight QSFP-40G-SR-BD transceivers. N9K-C9396PX is the underlying switch identifier; B18Q identifies this bundle configuration, not a port count or software tier. Each switch has 48 fixed 1/10G SFP+ downlinks and a modular uplink bay.
Nexus 9396PX switches support NX-OS management through a console CLI and an API using JSON or XML over HTTP/HTTPS, or APIC-based management in ACI mode. Software mode and licensing are separate deployment decisions; identify the intended operating mode for each chassis before configuring the pair.
N9K-C9396PX-B18Q is discontinued: Cisco ended sales May 1, 2018, and support ended April 30, 2023. Security support also ended April 30, 2023. New sealed condition does not restart Cisco's lifecycle, so evaluate any purchase as legacy hardware with support arranged independently of Cisco.
N9K-C9396PX-B18Q is offered new sealed or certified refurbished: new units carry up to a 3-year extended warranty; refurbished units carry up to 1 year. Both conditions have 30-day returns; terms apply. Cisco's original 1-year limited hardware warranty and Cisco service ended April 30, 2023.
N9K-C9396PX-B18Q needs two ACI-N9K-48X licenses for ACI unless appropriate licenses were already purchased. NX-OS options include Enhanced L3 N93-LAN1K9, NX-OS Essential NX-OS-ES-XF, and NX-OS Advantage NX-OS-AD-XF. Legacy PAK license-key files are permanent and chassis-bound; verify the intended software mode and both devices' entitlements before ordering.
N9K-C9396PX-B18Q includes 12-port 40G uplinks on each chassis through N9K-M12PQ, plus eight QSFP-40G-SR-BD transceivers across the bundle. The included transceivers do not populate every uplink position. Specify any additional optics against the required link count, rather than assuming all available uplinks arrive populated.
Nexus 9396PX 40G ports on N9K-M12PQ do not support four-way 10G breakout. The module's 40G interfaces therefore cannot substitute for additional groups of four server-facing 10G ports. Use the fixed SFP+ downlinks for individual 10G connections and size the required interfaces before ordering cabling.
N9K-C9396PX-B18Q provides 12 modular 40G uplinks per chassis, while N9K-C9372PX-E has six fixed 40G uplinks. Both are discontinued. For legacy installations, the bundle suits requirements retaining the N9K-M12PQ arrangement; N9K-C9372PX-E matches an existing six-uplink fixed configuration rather than the same removable uplink architecture.
N9K-C9396PX-BA-L3 is an Enhanced L3 ordering variant, while N9K-C9396PX-B18Q requires separate software selection for its chassis. Both are discontinued. The former addresses legacy purchases requiring that routing entitlement; the latter addresses bundle procurement where the operating mode and corresponding software entitlements must be specified separately.
N9K-C93180YC-FX3 supports native 1/10/25G server connections, while each N9K-C9396PX-B18Q chassis supports 1/10G server connections. The discontinued bundle fits like-for-like legacy requirements; N9K-C93180YC-FX3 addresses purchases requiring native 25G server interfaces. Specify the required chassis quantity separately rather than treating a single-switch PID as a two-switch bundle.
