N9K-C9504-B2-R uses a Clos fabric connecting line cards directly to rear fabric modules. Traffic is distributed across those modules; a fabric-module failure reduces available capacity while the remaining modules continue forwarding. Static routes, SVIs and HSRP are available without an additional feature license. OSPF and BGP require an appropriate entitlement. Serial-console and out-of-band Ethernet interfaces provide management access, while NX-API supports automation. Within the N9500 R-Series modular design, N9K-SC-A system controllers manage power supplies and fan trays, separating those chassis-management responsibilities from supervisory functions.
ORM Systems offers N9K-C9504-B2-R new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty on new units and up to 1 year on certified refurbished units; both conditions include 30-day returns, terms apply. Cisco's separate 1-year limited hardware warranty is bounded by July 31, 2032. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, clean boot, module bay recognition, PSU status and fan status, with firmware verified and configurations wiped to factory default. When a maintenance plan requires a standby control plane, the bundled supervisor alone does not provide a redundant pair. A second supervisor must match the installed N9K-SUP-B type. Specify the additional N9K-SUP-B and confirm the intended supervisor population on the purchase order.
When expanding a partially populated chassis, installed line cards and fabric modules determine whether the available power supplies can sustain the selected redundancy mode. Combined, N+1 and N+N operation impose different requirements. Confirm the final component population, supply selection and power feeds before the purchase order.
ACI fabric operation
NX-OS-only N9K-C9504-FM-R fabric modules prevent ACI operation in this bundle. A software license cannot convert the included R-series fabric into an ACI configuration.
400G line-card connectivity
N9K-X9624D-R2 400G line cards are not supported by N9K-C9504-FM-R. Compatible four-slot R-series line-card options provide interfaces through 100 Gigabit Ethernet, not 400G.

Route scale also depends on the installed line card, rather than representing a fixed capability of the chassis bundle alone.
The Nexus 9504 R-series bundle includes three power supplies in a chassis that accepts four. Redundancy depends on installed component power requirements and the selected supply configuration.
