SF200-48 is a fanless, Layer 2 smart switch with 48 10/100 Mbps access ports and two fixed Gigabit combo uplinks. Each uplink provides a copper connection and an SFP cage, with only one connection active per pair. The non-PoE design connects independently powered computers, printers, and other office equipment in a full-width rack-mount chassis. Cisco 200 Series Smart Switches provide web-based configuration, traffic prioritization, and network segmentation without a modular uplink architecture. The discontinued SF200-48P differs by supplying PoE on 24 access ports. This 48-port Fast Ethernet smart switch therefore preserves a specific legacy access configuration rather than providing Gigabit speed to every endpoint.

13.6 Gbps switching capacity supports the access and uplink interfaces, while 10.12 Mpps forwarding performance describes processing with 64-byte packets. An 8000-entry MAC table supports address learning across attached devices. SF200-48 carries 128 MB of memory and 16 MB of flash for its embedded switching software and configuration. A dynamically shared 16 Mb packet buffer accommodates traffic bursts across ports. STP and RSTP provide loop prevention, while broadcast, multicast, and unknown-unicast storm control constrain unwanted traffic. SF200-48 identifies a Cisco 200 Series Fast Ethernet smart switch with 48 access ports and two Gigabit combo uplinks. The SF200 portion identifies the Fast Ethernet model family, and 48 identifies the access-port count. The North American ordering identity is SLM248GT-NA; SF200-48 does not include PoE.
SF200-48 uses a browser-based web interface for configuration and supports SNMP and RMON for monitoring. Cisco FindIT can discover the device and display identifying information to assist administration. Management connectivity supports IPv4 and IPv6, but those management capabilities do not turn the switch into an IP routing device.
SF200-48 is discontinued, with an end-of-sale date of August 2, 2018, and a last date of support of August 31, 2023. Cisco service has ended. An order should therefore distinguish the hardware's condition and reseller coverage from any expectation of an active Cisco support entitlement.

SF200-48 does not provide PoE on its access ports or uplinks. Connected phones, cameras, and wireless access points must receive power independently if they require it. The internal AC supply powers the switch itself; its presence does not establish an endpoint power budget or powered Ethernet capability.
SF200-48 permits only one active connection within each Gigabit combo pair. Each pair consists of a copper Ethernet interface and an SFP interface sharing the same logical port. Using the fiber connection therefore does not add another independent uplink alongside the copper connection in that pair.
Cisco 200 Series switches support MGBSX1 for Gigabit multimode fiber and MGBLX1 for Gigabit single-mode fiber. MGBSX1 supports a typical distance of 500 m, while MGBLX1 supports 10 km. Specify the transceiver PID, fiber type, and compatible remote interface rather than ordering an unspecified SFP.
The Cisco Small Business 200 switch provides Layer 2 switching rather than inter-VLAN routing. VLANs separate traffic, while an external routing device handles communication between IP subnets.
