SF200-48P combines 48 Fast Ethernet access ports with PoE on 24 ports, giving small businesses a Layer 2 switch for mixed powered and independently powered endpoints. Two fixed Gigabit combo uplinks provide copper or fiber connectivity, with one medium active per combo connection. The 1U rack-mount chassis belongs to Cisco 200 Series Smart Switches and serves networks connecting IP phones, cameras, printers, and computers whose access links do not require Gigabit speeds. Browser-based configuration provides control beyond an unmanaged switch without introducing a modular chassis. The discontinued SF200-48 is the closest non-PoE sibling for installations where endpoints receive power separately. Access connections remain 10/100 Mbps regardless of the faster uplink interfaces, so endpoint speed requirements determine whether this configuration fits.

13.6 Gbps switching capacity carries traffic between the access interfaces and uplinks, while 10.12 Mpps forwarding handles minimum-size packets. 180W of shared PoE capacity must be allocated across connected powered devices rather than treated as a simultaneous maximum allowance for every powered port. STP and RSTP control Layer 2 loops, and LACP combines links into aggregation groups. Four hardware queues support traffic prioritization through strict-priority or weighted round-robin scheduling. SF200-48P carries 128 MB of memory and 16 MB of flash for its embedded switching software and configuration. An 8000-entry MAC table supports address learning, while 16 Mb of dynamically shared packet buffering accommodates queued traffic. SNMP versions 1, 2c, and 3 provide monitoring alongside the web interface. Cisco Small Business switching here remains Layer 2: inter-VLAN routing requires an external routing device. Two fans provide active cooling, so this is not a fanless installation option.
SF200-48P is offered new sealed or certified refurbished; specify condition, quantities, and the regional power cord on the PO, including SLM248PT-NA where required. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on, POST, rated-speed port links, clean boot, and PoE output under load on every powered port; firmware is verified and configurations are wiped to factory default. ORM warranties are up to 3-year extended for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished, with 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply; Cisco service and original limited lifetime coverage ended May 31, 2023. Enterprise and volume orders support PO acceptance, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement across UK, EU, US, and MEA.

In a multi-site SMB branch office, deploy the SF200-48P-48 switch to power up to 24 IP phones via its PoE-capable 10/100 ports and support 24 additional workstations. Two combo mini-GBIC uplinks connect directly to the corporate router for resilient data aggregation. With a 180 W PoE budget, this setup ensures uninterrupted voice service, simplified cabling and centralized network management.
Equip a retail location with the SF200-48P-48 to power up to 24 HD PoE cameras on 10/100 ports while hosting POS terminals on the remaining ports. Dual mini-GBIC ports deliver high-speed uplinks to an on-site NVR or off-site cloud storage. The 180 W PoE budget guarantees continuous camera operation, reduces downtime and centralizes surveillance control for loss prevention.
Deploy the SF200-48P-48 switch in a campus environment to power 24 PoE wireless access points via 10/100 ports and link two core switches over mini-GBIC. The 180 W PoE budget eliminates the need for local power supplies at each AP, accelerates installation and ensures robust, high-availability Wi-Fi coverage across buildings. Benefit: streamlined infrastructure, reduced operational costs and scalable network growth.
When adding IP phones or cameras to an existing access network, distinguish endpoint power demand from the number of available Ethernet connections. Each supported powered connection supplies no more than 15.4W. Before the PO, identify every powered device, confirm its required power class, and size the combined allocation.
When several locations need a consistent configuration, text-editable configuration files allow a prepared setup to be downloaded to another switch. DHCP options 66 and 67 support configuration-file delivery from a central server. Specify the configuration template, addressing plan, and staging responsibilities before placing the hardware order.
When replacing an existing switch without changing network segmentation, reproduce the required VLAN memberships during staging rather than assuming the running configuration will transfer unchanged. The switch supports 256 simultaneous VLANs. Before the PO, check the active VLAN count, tagged connections, and acceptance tests against the intended configuration.
Gigabit speeds at every endpoint
The access interfaces stop at 100 Mbps. C1200-48P-4G is the current migration endpoint with 48 Gigabit access ports for endpoints requiring higher native link speeds.
PoE on every access connection
Only 24 of the 48 access ports supply PoE. The remaining connections require independently powered endpoints, so this chassis cannot power devices across every access port.
Routing between local VLANs
The switch provides Layer 2 forwarding rather than inter-VLAN routing. VLAN-to-VLAN traffic requires an external routing device; this chassis cannot serve as the routed gateway.

SF200-48P identifies a Fast Ethernet model in the Cisco 200 Series, with 48 access ports and PoE capability indicated by P. PoE is available on 24 ports, not all 48. SLM248PT-NA is the North American ordering form for this configuration, which also includes two Gigabit combo uplinks.
SF200-48P is managed through its built-in browser-based configuration utility and supports SNMP versions 1, 2c, and 3. The web interface provides configuration, a system dashboard, maintenance, and monitoring. FindIT Network Discovery Utility supports discovery, while Cisco Active Advisor provides an additional supported inventory service.
SF200-48P is discontinued: end of sale was May 10, 2018, and Cisco support ended May 31, 2023. The original migration model, SF250-48HP-K9-NA, is also discontinued. C1200-48P-4G is the current endpoint of the subsequent migration chain, rather than either of the retired generations.
ORM offers SF200-48P new sealed with up to 3-year extended warranty or certified refurbished with up to 1-year warranty, plus 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply. Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware warranty and service ended May 31, 2023; its original fan and power-supply warranty was 1 year.
SF200-48P provides a shared 180W PoE budget across 24 powered access ports, with a maximum of 15.4W per powered port. The other 24 access ports provide data connectivity without PoE output. Endpoint power requirements must fit the shared allocation; every powered port cannot simultaneously draw its individual maximum.
SF200-48P has two Gigabit combo uplinks, each pairing a copper Ethernet interface with an SFP slot. Only one interface in each pair can operate at a time. These are fixed uplink connections, not removable network-module bays, and the copper and fiber interfaces do not provide four simultaneous uplinks.
The Cisco 200 Series provides Layer 2 switching rather than routing between VLANs. VLANs separate traffic within the switching network, but communication between those VLANs requires an external routing device. The switch therefore does not replace the gateway when a deployment needs local inter-VLAN forwarding.
SF200-48P uses a single internal AC power supply and does not provide a second internal supply bay for redundancy. The power input accepts 100-240V AC. A purchase requiring dual internal power supplies cannot be fulfilled by adding another supply to this chassis.
The Cisco 200 Series supports 256 simultaneous VLANs on this model, using port-based or tagged VLAN membership. Voice VLAN functionality can assign voice traffic to a dedicated VLAN with appropriate prioritization. Count the VLANs that must be active together when checking an existing configuration for migration.
SF200-48P supplies PoE on 24 access ports, whereas SF200-48 does not supply PoE. Both are discontinued members of the same family. For legacy matching, the powered model accommodates compatible phones or cameras, while the non-PoE model suits endpoints that already receive power from another source.
SF200-48P provides 48 Fast Ethernet access ports, whereas SF200-24P provides 24 Fast Ethernet access ports. Both models are discontinued. When matching a legacy installation, the larger model accommodates the higher connection count; the smaller model suits an installation whose required access connections fit within 24 ports.
SF200-48P has 100 Mbps access interfaces, whereas C1200-48P-4G has Gigabit access interfaces. The former is discontinued and is primarily relevant to legacy hardware matching. The current migration model suits buyers requiring Gigabit endpoint connectivity rather than retaining the Fast Ethernet access speed of the older switch.
