The non-PoE, rack-mount 1U chassis belongs to the Cisco 220 Series Smart Switches family and connects locally powered computers, printers, and network storage. Each combo uplink offers copper or fiber connectivity, with only one interface active within each pair. The discontinued SF220-48P-K9-UK adds endpoint power where this model provides data connectivity only. This configuration retains Fast Ethernet at the endpoint connections rather than extending Gigabit speeds across the access ports. 13.6 Gbps switching capacity defines the aggregate switching throughput, while 10.12 Mpps forwarding applies to 64-byte packets. SF220-48-K9-UK combines 128 MB of memory with 32 MB of flash, and an 8192-entry MAC table supports address learning. A 12 Mb packet buffer is dynamically shared across the ports. STP/RSTP/MSTP and LACP support spanning-tree and link-aggregation configuration; 256 simultaneous VLANs provide traffic separation. Management includes a browser interface, scriptable CLI, and SNMP, with console access available locally. Layer 3 routing is not provided, so communication between IP subnets requires a separate routing device. The internal AC supply accepts 100-240V, and the published 13.7W system consumption at 220V provides a power-planning reference without an endpoint PoE load.

When preparing replacement hardware outside production, the initial management address is 192.168.1.254 until DHCP assigns another address. Keep staging isolated to avoid address conflicts, establish administrator credentials, and save configuration changes before disconnecting power. Specify console access and the staging procedure before the PO.
When a branch installation has no equipment rack, the non-PoE chassis supports wall mounting with the supplied brackets. Wall-fixing screws are user-supplied, and the front panel must face downward. Confirm the mounting surface, fixing hardware, and cable approach before specifying installation materials on the PO.
Gigabit links to every endpoint
The 48 access ports stop at 100 Mbps. The current replacement, CBS220-48T-4G-UK, retains 48 access ports but raises their speed to Gigabit Ethernet.
Power delivery to connected endpoints
SF220-48-K9-UK supplies no PoE. Connected phones, cameras, or access points require separate power; the current CBS220-48P-4G-UK provides PoE with 48 Gigabit access ports.
10G fiber uplinks to distribution
The fixed combo uplinks operate at Gigabit speeds, not 10G. Installing an optical transceiver does not turn these interfaces into 10G uplinks.

SF220-48-K9-UK supports HTTP/HTTPS browser management, a CLI through the console or SSH/Telnet, and SNMP.
