SG100D-08 is a fanless, unmanaged Layer 2 desktop switch with eight Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports and no dedicated uplink ports. PoE is not supported, so connected computers, printers, and other office equipment require separate power. Within the Cisco 100 Series Unmanaged Switches, this configuration supplies basic copper connectivity without configuration. The discontinued SG100D-08P differs by adding four powered ports for Ethernet-powered endpoints. An upstream router or switch connects through a regular copper port, so reserve a connection for that link when planning endpoint quantities. The Cisco Small Business family positions this model for office networks with basic connectivity requirements, and the desktop enclosure does not occupy a full-width rack position.

16 Gbps switching capacity provides the aggregate switching fabric for concurrent Ethernet traffic. 11.9 Mpps forwarding at a 64-byte packet size defines small-packet processing capacity rather than the speed of an individual connection. Four hardware queues apply 802.1p priority, with priority queuing and weighted round-robin scheduling handling traffic classes automatically. SG100D-08 uses store-and-forward switching to identify damaged packets and prevent their onward transmission, while head-of-line blocking prevention addresses congestion within the forwarding path. IEEE 802.3x flow control supports backpressure between connected Ethernet devices. Energy Efficient Ethernet reduces active-link power use during quiet traffic periods by placing the link into a sleep state. The external power connection requires 12V DC at 1A, making adapter compatibility a procurement check rather than an assumption based on connector appearance. Layer 3 routing is not available.
Specify SG100D-08 in new sealed or certified refurbished condition, confirm included accessories, and state quantities on the purchase order. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, every port linking at rated speed, and a clean boot. ORM offers up to a 3-year extended warranty on new units, up to 1 year on certified refurbished units, and 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply, while Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware warranty and service have ended. Enterprise and volume orders can use POs, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement, with regional stock/RMA coverage across the UK, EU, US, and MEA.

When an office expansion needs the switch off a desk, the desktop enclosure supports mounting beneath a desk or on a wall. SG100D-08 originally includes mounting hardware. Before the purchase order, identify the mounting location and confirm that the required hardware is included with the selected condition.
When a lab or staging bench validates large-frame transfers, the switch accepts jumbo frames of 9216 bytes. That frame size makes compatibility across the connected path a purchase consideration. Check endpoint and upstream-device frame handling rather than assuming matching support before specifying the hardware on the purchase order.
When multiple offices standardize copper connection kits, automatic MDI/MDI-X detection accommodates straight-through and crossover connections. Category 5 or better cabling is the minimum cable requirement. Include the intended cable types and lengths in the site checklist, then confirm the cable requirements before finalizing each purchase order.
Ethernet power for connected endpoints
SG100D-08 does not supply PoE on any RJ-45 port. Connected IP phones, access points, and cameras cannot draw operating power from this switch.
Fiber or 10G uplink connectivity
SG100D-08 has only copper 10/100/1000 ports, with no SFP cages or removable uplink cards. Fiber connections and 10G links cannot terminate directly on this switch.
Active Cisco hardware service coverage
SG100D-08 belongs to a retired family, and Cisco service has ended. CBS110-8T-D-NA is the current eight-port Gigabit desktop successor after the discontinued SG110D-08.

SG100D-08 identifies an eight-port Gigabit desktop switch in the Cisco 100 Series. The configuration combines the Gigabit switch designation, the 100 family, desktop format, and an eight-port count. The complete part number refers to the non-PoE model, with eight copper 10/100/1000 Ethernet connections.
Cisco 100 Series Unmanaged Switches operate without configuration, including SG100D-08. Connect the power adapter and Ethernet devices, and the switch begins forwarding traffic automatically. Port speed and duplex are selected automatically for connected equipment, so installation does not require a separate configuration workflow.
SG100D-08 is retired, and Cisco service for the 100 Series Unmanaged Switches has ended. The product remains an older unmanaged desktop model rather than a current Cisco family. An exact replacement order should distinguish product condition from continued manufacturer support eligibility.
ORM Systems offers SG100D-08 new sealed with up to a 3-year extended warranty or certified refurbished with up to 1 year. Returns are available for 30 days on every condition; terms apply. Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware warranty has ended for this retired model, and Cisco service has ended.
SG100D-08 does not provide PoE on any of its eight Ethernet ports. IP phones, wireless access points, and other endpoints must receive power separately when connected to this model. The data connections support Gigabit speeds, but they cannot supply operating power to attached equipment.
SG100D-08 has eight fixed copper 10/100/1000 connections and no dedicated fiber uplinks, SFP cages, or removable uplink cards. A router or upstream switch connects through a regular RJ-45 port. Reserve that connection in the port plan; this model cannot terminate a direct optical or 10G link.
SG100D-08 requires an external adapter delivering 12V DC at 1A. The original package includes a power adapter, and the switch does not use an internal AC power supply. Confirm the regional power connection and included adapter before ordering a replacement unit or adding it to spare inventory.
SG100D-08P provides four PoE ports sharing a 33.6W budget, whereas SG100D-08 supplies data without PoE. Both models belong to the retired Cisco 100 Series. SG100D-08 fits legacy data-only replacement needs; SG100D-08P fits legacy installations whose connected endpoints require Ethernet-delivered power within that shared budget.
SG100-16 uses an internal universal AC power supply, whereas SG100D-08 needs an external 12V DC adapter. Both models are retired. SG100D-08 matches legacy desktop replacements with a separate power adapter; SG100-16 matches legacy installations that require the switch to receive AC power directly through its internal supply.
SG100D-08 is retired with Cisco service ended, while CBS110-8T-D-NA is the current eight-port Gigabit desktop successor. The migration passes through the discontinued SG110D-08. SG100D-08 serves exact legacy replacement purchases; CBS110-8T-D-NA serves buyers who need to order from the current unmanaged desktop family instead.
