SG100D-08P is an unmanaged Layer 2 desktop switch with eight 10/100/1000 RJ-45 ports, four supplying IEEE 802.3af PoE for compatible phones, wireless access points and cameras. The Cisco 100 Series serves small-business office networks that need copper connectivity without switch configuration. There are no dedicated uplink ports or optical cages; an existing copper port carries the upstream connection. Externally powered equipment can therefore share the chassis with powered endpoints, subject to the available power allocation. The discontinued SG100D-08 provides the same eight-port Gigabit configuration without PoE. Desktop placement or wall mounting accommodates office locations where a full-width equipment-rack chassis is not required. This configuration combines ordinary data connections and endpoint power without adding a separate set of uplink sockets.

16 Gbps switching capacity provides the aggregate switching fabric for local Ethernet traffic, while 11.9 Mpps forwarding with 64-byte packets describes packet-processing throughput. 33.6W of PoE output is shared among the powered connections, so endpoint demand must be assessed collectively rather than assuming maximum output everywhere. Four hardware queues use priority queuing and weighted round-robin scheduling to handle different traffic priorities. IEEE 802.1p class of service operates automatically, and store-and-forward switching prevents damaged packets from being passed onward. SG100D-08P supports 9216-byte jumbo frames for networks carrying larger Ethernet frames. Automatic MDI/MDI-X detection and speed negotiation accommodate copper connections without requiring crossover-cable selection. Energy Efficient Ethernet places quiet active links into a sleep state to reduce link-related consumption. The operating range is 0°C to 40°C, so installation planning must account for the temperature at the intended mounting location rather than assuming industrial-temperature operation.
ORM Systems offers SG100D-08P in new sealed and certified refurbished condition; specify the required condition and supplied power adapter on the purchase order. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, clean boot, rated-speed links on every port, PoE output under load on every powered port, and rated output from the supplied adapter. ORM warranty is up to a 3-year extended term for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units; every condition includes 30-day returns, terms apply, while Cisco's original limited lifetime coverage has ended. For enterprise and volume orders, PO is accepted and Net-30 is available for government.

When phones, cameras or wireless access points are being added to an existing office network, powered connections must be assigned to ports 1–4 rather than distributed across the entire front panel. Prepare the endpoint-to-port schedule and confirm each device's PoE requirements before releasing the purchase order.
When several small offices are receiving the same connection kit, cable preparation can be standardized before shipment. Category 5 Ethernet cabling is the minimum requirement. Add the required patch leads to each site's bill of materials and confirm the intended mounting location before releasing the purchase order.
PoE power on every access port
Only four of the eight Ethernet ports supply PoE. Deployments requiring powered connections on every access port exceed this model's physical PoE port count.
Direct fiber uplinks to distribution
All built-in network connections are copper Gigabit Ethernet, without optical cages or removable uplink cards. A direct fiber handoff requires hardware with a fiber interface.
Configurable switching policies and administration
The switch operates without configuration and handles traffic automatically. Deployments requiring administrator-configured switching policies need managed hardware rather than this unmanaged desktop model.

SG100D-08P identifies an eight-port Gigabit desktop switch with PoE: SG100 identifies the Gigabit 100 Series model, D indicates desktop, 08 indicates eight ports, and P indicates PoE. The PoE designation does not mean every network port supplies power; powered output is limited to four ports.
Cisco 100 Series Unmanaged Switches operate without configuration, including SG100D-08P. Connect power and Ethernet devices; port speed, duplex selection and cable crossover handling operate automatically. Traffic prioritization also runs automatically, so purchasing centers on physical connectivity and endpoint power rather than preparing a switch configuration.
SG100D-08P can supply four compatible powered endpoints within a shared 33.6W budget. IEEE 802.3af compatibility and aggregate device demand both matter; the budget is not an independent allowance for each port. Confirm the maximum requirement of every phone, camera or wireless access point before connecting the complete set.
SG100D-08P cannot accept fiber transceivers because its network interfaces are copper Gigabit Ethernet ports. An upstream connection uses one of those existing ports, and no removable uplink card adds optical connectivity. Account for that connection when allocating sockets, because the chassis has no separate uplink beyond its eight Ethernet connections.
SG100D-08P supports desktop placement or wall mounting rather than installation as a full-width rack chassis. The enclosure measures 160 mm wide, 30 mm high and 128.5 mm deep and weighs 0.55 kg. Confirm the available mounting surface and the external adapter's location when preparing the installation.
SG100D-08P provides 16 Gbps switching capacity and 11.9 Mpps forwarding performance with 64-byte packets. These figures describe aggregate switching and packet handling, not a faster individual Ethernet port. Jumbo frames reach 9216 bytes, so larger-frame operation must be coordinated with the other equipment carrying the same traffic.
SG100D-08P is retired, and Cisco support for the 100 Series Unmanaged Switches has ended. Existing stock is a legacy-hardware purchase rather than a current Cisco-supported model. CBS110-8PP-D is the newer migration model for buyers replacing the same basic desktop PoE configuration.
SG100D-08P supplies PoE on four ports, while discontinued SG100D-08 provides eight Gigabit data ports without PoE. The purchase distinction is endpoint power rather than additional network sockets. SG100D-08P suits maintaining powered endpoints; SG100D-08 suits matching an existing installation whose endpoints receive power separately.
SG100D-08P uses an external power adapter, whereas discontinued SG100-16 receives AC power through an internal universal supply. SG100-16 also has sixteen ports. For legacy sparing, SG100D-08P matches an external-adapter installation, while SG100-16 matches an existing internal-supply installation; the power accessories are not interchangeable purchasing assumptions.
SG100D-08P belongs to the retired 100 Series, while CBS110-8PP-D is the newer migration model in the Cisco Business range. Both address desktop PoE connectivity, but procurement differs: SG100D-08P serves legacy hardware matching, while CBS110-8PP-D is the migration choice when refreshing an installation.
ORM Systems offers SG100D-08P new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units. Returns are 30 days for every condition; terms apply. Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware coverage has ended because Cisco service has ended.
