Best For

Replacement Unit Staging

When preparing a replacement before installation, arrange an isolated management connection and a configuration backup. The factory fallback address is 192.168.1.254. Identify any addressing conflicts in advance, then specify the required configuration-loading and acceptance steps before releasing the purchase order.

Existing Stack Extension

When adding hardware to an existing stack, identify the installed members and their stacking settings before selecting interconnects. SG500 stacking interfaces support 5G connections with compatible copper cables. Record cable lengths, connection assignments and the intended topology on the purchase order.

Not Suitable If

RIP or VRRP routing

SG500-52-K9 supports static routing but excludes RIP and VRRP. A design requiring either feature needs different switching hardware or an external routing device.

Active Cisco hardware support

Cisco support for SG500-52-K9 ended April 30, 2023. New sealed inventory does not restore Cisco service eligibility or extend that support milestone.
