WS-C3560-48TS-S combines 48 non-PoE 10/100 RJ-45 access ports with four fixed 1G SFP uplinks in a rack-mount 1U chassis. The Catalyst 3560 serves enterprise access and branch LANs where Fast Ethernet remains the endpoint connection standard. IP Base is the as-shipped software image, giving this managed switch a Layer 2+ feature set with basic IP routing. The discontinued WS-C3560-48PS-S adds PoE for powered endpoints. The data-only model keeps endpoint power provisioning separate from the network hardware order, while its SFP interfaces accommodate fiber connections to upstream equipment.

32 Gbps switching capacity provides the forwarding bandwidth for access traffic and upstream connections. 13.1 Mpps forwarding handles 64-byte packets, giving engineers a packet-rate reference alongside bandwidth. WS-C3560-48TS-S carries 128 MB of DRAM and 32 MB of flash for software operation and image storage. The address-learning capacity accommodates 12000 MAC entries; the hardware supports a total of 11000 unicast routes, with resource allocation depending on the selected configuration template. Static routing, RIPv1 and RIPv2 provide the shipped image's routing options; OSPF requires IP Services. LACP supports link aggregation, while IGMPv3 snooping controls multicast delivery to requesting receivers. Management includes a local console, web interface, Telnet and SNMP; SSHv2 requires a cryptographic software image. 45W measured consumption at 100% throughput provides an operating-load reference for power planning rather than a power-supply rating. Physical stacking is not available.
ORM offers WS-C3560-48TS-S new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units, up to 1 year for certified refurbished units, and 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on, POST, clean boot, rated-speed port links and optics bay recognition, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default; Cisco's original limited hardware warranty ended July 31, 2015. Specify condition, quantities and delivery region before submitting the purchase order. For enterprise and volume orders, PO acceptance, Net-30 for government and RMA with advance replacement are available, with regional stock and RMA across the UK, EU, US and MEA.

When staging replacements for an established traffic policy, four egress queues per port provide a boundary for testing class assignments. Priority queuing and rate limiting need configuration that matches the intended traffic policy. Specify the staging configuration, traffic classes and acceptance checks before ordering units for the test environment.
For branches reusing a common administration standard, the switch offers 15 console privilege levels and two web-management levels. Administrator permissions therefore need attention across the different access methods. Define who can change configuration, then specify the access policy and staging requirements before ordering hardware for additional branch locations.
Organizations combining separate departmental networks need to preserve their existing segmentation requirements. The switch supports 1024 VLANs and 128 spanning-tree instances, limits that matter when configurations are merged rather than copied unchanged. Count the active VLANs and spanning-tree instances, then specify the consolidated configuration before issuing the purchase order.
Gigabit connections on every access port
WS-C3560-48TS-S limits copper access connections to 100 Mbps. C9300L-48T-4G-A is the current replacement-chain endpoint with 48 native 1G copper access ports.
PoE power for attached endpoints
WS-C3560-48TS-S supplies no endpoint power. C9300L-48P-4G-A provides 48 PoE+ copper ports and is the current endpoint of the corresponding PoE replacement chain.

WS-C3560-48TS-S identifies a Catalyst 3560 with 48 Fast Ethernet access ports, SFP uplinks and IP Base software. WS-C3560 identifies the family; 48 is the access-port count; TS identifies the data-only copper configuration with SFP uplinks; the final S identifies IP Base. This configuration has four Gigabit SFP uplinks.
WS-C3560-48TS-S supports web management, a console CLI, Telnet, SSHv2, SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3, plus Cisco Network Assistant and CiscoWorks LMS. SSHv2 requires a cryptographic software image. Specify the required management access during staging rather than assuming that a particular encrypted image is already installed on every supplied unit.
WS-C3560-48TS-S is discontinued: end of sale was July 5, 2010, and Cisco support ended July 31, 2015. Software maintenance ended July 4, 2013. The immediate replacement, WS-C3560V2-48TS-S, is also discontinued; its replacement chain continues through WS-C3650-48TS-S to the current C9300L-48T-4G-A.
ORM offers WS-C3560-48TS-S new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units. Both conditions have 30-day returns; terms apply. Cisco's original limited hardware warranty ended July 31, 2015. WS-C3560-48TS-S-RF is Cisco remanufactured, not ORM certified refurbished.
WS-C3560-48TS-S ships with IP Base and can use the CD-3560-EMI= upgrade to IP Services. The higher image enables additional routing functions that are not included in the shipped configuration. State the required software image on the purchase order instead of treating all Catalyst 3560 routing features as standard.
WS-C3560-48TS-S accepts Gigabit SFP transceivers, including GLC-SX-MM= for multimode fiber, GLC-LH-SM= for single-mode fiber and GLC-T= for copper connections. The four uplink cages are fixed interfaces, not a removable network-module bay. Match the selected transceiver to the cabling and the equipment at the other end.
No, Catalyst 3560 switches cannot form a physical hardware stack using CAB-SFP-50CM=. The cable provides a Gigabit point-to-point connection between SFP interfaces rather than a stacking bus. Each connected switch remains a separate device, so specify an Ethernet interconnection rather than ordering this cable as a stack kit.
No, WS-C3560-48TS-S has one internal AC power supply rather than two redundant internal modules. The external PWR-RPS2300 can provide DC backup through the rear power connector. External backup does not create an internal second-supply bay, so confirm the external power arrangement when reviewing the proposed order.
The discontinued WS-C3560-48PS-S provides PoE, whereas WS-C3560-48TS-S does not supply endpoint power. The PoE version shares a 370W budget across its powered ports. Both are discontinued models. The data-only version suits separately powered endpoints; the PoE version addresses legacy installations whose endpoint power requirements fit that shared budget.
The discontinued WS-C3560-48TS-E ships with IP Services, whereas WS-C3560-48TS-S ships with IP Base. IP Services enables additional routing functions, including OSPF and EIGRP. Both are discontinued models. The S version suits legacy configurations using basic routing; the E version addresses existing configurations that require the higher software image.
C9300L-48T-4G-A has 48 native 1G copper access ports, whereas WS-C3560-48TS-S has 48 10/100 copper access ports. C9300L-48T-4G-A is the current endpoint of the replacement chain. The discontinued older model addresses retained Fast Ethernet configurations; the current model suits buyers requiring native Gigabit access connections.
The Catalyst 3560 IP Base image includes static routing, RIPv1 and RIPv2 for basic IP connectivity. OSPF and the additional advanced unicast routing functions require IP Services. The hardware's total unicast-route capacity is separate from software-image permissions, so specify both the intended routing configuration and the required image.
