When an existing Catalyst 3560-E estate needs a matching spare, separate hardware replacement from software-security planning. Vulnerability and security support ended January 30, 2016, so a matching chassis does not restore ongoing security maintenance. Specify the condition, software entitlement and acceptance criteria before adding spares to the purchase order.
When a lab must reproduce an existing campus configuration, the Catalyst 3560-E supports 1005 VLANs for segmentation exercises. Treat that limit separately from routing-feature entitlement and uplink hardware selection. List the VLAN design, intended software image and connection accessories before placing the staging order.
30W PoE+ endpoint power
Standard PoE supplies 15.4W per port under IEEE 802.3af. Endpoints requiring 30W PoE+ exceed that standard per-port allocation and require different powered access hardware.
