WS-C3560E-48TD-E is a standalone Layer 3 enterprise access switch with 48 10/100/1000 RJ-45 ports and two fixed 10G X2 uplink interfaces. The data-only configuration connects separately powered endpoints rather than supplying PoE. IP Services provides the advanced routing feature set, while the full-width 1U chassis fits a standard equipment rack. Within the Cisco Catalyst 3560-E line, this configuration combines copper access density with the legacy X2 optical interface. The discontinued WS-C3560E-48PD-E differs by providing PoE; both models have ended Cisco support. Cisco Catalyst 3560E-48TD hardware therefore addresses replacement requirements where the existing network already uses this chassis and uplink architecture, rather than introducing a different optical interface.

128 Gbps switching capacity and 101.2 Mpps forwarding support the chassis's packet-switching workload. OSPF, EIGRP and BGP provide dynamic unicast routing, while PIM-SM, PIM-DM and PIM-SDM support multicast routing under IP Services. Static routing, RIPv1, RIPv2 and HSRP are also supported. WS-C3560E-48TD-E carries 128 MB DRAM and 64 MB flash for system operation and software storage. Resource allocation depends on the selected switching database template: the VLAN template accommodates 12000 MAC entries, whereas the routing template supports 11000 total unicast routes; these maxima are not simultaneous allocations. Management combines the Cisco IOS CLI with Cisco Network Assistant, CiscoWorks LMS and SNMP. Console and dedicated Ethernet management connections provide separate administrative access, and SSH requires a cryptographic software image. Hardware switch stacking is not supported, so another chassis remains separately managed rather than becoming an additional member of one hardware stack.
ORM Systems offers WS-C3560E-48TD-E in new sealed and certified refurbished condition; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, every port linking at rated speed, clean boot, PSU status and fan status, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify the condition, required software entitlement and quantity on the PO. When an existing installation still terminates Gigabit fiber uplinks, CVR-X2-SFP converts one X2 interface into two 1G SFP interfaces. The conversion preserves a migration path to the original 10G interface without replacing the access chassis. Specify CVR-X2-SFP and the required SFP transceivers as separate line items before issuing the PO.
When a replacement must reproduce an existing routed configuration, memory allocation needs attention before installation. The default template supports 8000 total unicast routes, while the access template supports 6000. Match the intended allocation to the existing configuration and confirm the required template during staging before approving the replacement order.
When a lab or staging order must reproduce a network carrying large Ethernet frames, the chassis supports 9216-byte jumbo frames on its Gigabit configuration. Frame-size compatibility remains an end-to-end configuration requirement rather than a property of the access switch alone. Specify the required frame size and validation scope before placing the PO.
PoE power for connected endpoints
WS-C3560E-48TD-E supplies no endpoint power. C9300L-48P-4X-A is a current 48-port PoE migration option and also changes the uplink configuration to four 10G interfaces.
Four independent 10G uplink interfaces
WS-C3560E-48TD-E provides two 10G X2 interfaces. C9300L-48T-4X-A provides four 10G uplinks while retaining a 48-port data-only configuration and ending the forward migration chain.
Two internal redundant power supplies
WS-C3560E-48TD-E has one internal power-supply slot. Power backup uses an external connection rather than a second internal supply, so the chassis cannot meet an internal dual-supply requirement.

WS-C3560E-48TD-E identifies a Catalyst 3560-E switch with 48 data-only Gigabit access ports, two 10G X2 uplinks and IP Services. WS-C3560E identifies the family, 48 gives the access-port quantity, the TD configuration combines copper data ports with X2 uplinks, and the final E selects IP Services.
Catalyst 3560-E switches are managed through the Cisco IOS CLI over console, Telnet or SSH, plus Cisco Network Assistant, CiscoWorks LMS and SNMP. A dedicated Ethernet management port supports out-of-band access. SSH and encrypted SNMPv3 require a cryptographic software image, so the management-image requirement belongs on the order.
WS-C3560E-48TD-E is discontinued: Cisco sales ended January 30, 2013, and the last date of support was January 31, 2018. Software maintenance ended January 30, 2014, followed by vulnerability support on January 30, 2016. New sealed inventory does not restart these lifecycle milestones or restore Cisco service.
ORM Systems offers WS-C3560E-48TD-E new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units. Returns are 30 days on every condition; terms apply. Cisco's original 90-day limited hardware/software warranty is no longer active; Cisco service ended January 31, 2018.
WS-C3560E-48TD-E comes with IP Services, which enables advanced IPv4 unicast and multicast routing. Cisco IOS Software Activation reads the installed license file at startup to enable the corresponding feature set. Advanced IP Services adds IPv6 routing, and the upgrade from IP Services uses 3560E-AISK9-LIC-S=.
Yes, WS-C3560E-48TD-E supports OSPF and BGP through its IP Services feature set, alongside EIGRP for dynamic unicast routing. Multicast routing includes PIM-SM, PIM-DM and PIM-SDM. The installed software entitlement matters: these advanced routing capabilities distinguish IP Services from the family's basic IP Base configuration.
Catalyst 3560-E switches support X2-10GB-SR=, X2-10GB-LR= and X2-10GB-ER= for their 10G X2 interfaces. These optical connections use SC fiber connectors rather than a built-in SFP+ cage. Gigabit SFP operation requires CVR-X2-SFP, which converts one X2 interface into two 1G SFP interfaces; match transceivers to the selected connection.
No, WS-C3560E-48TD-E is a standalone switch and does not support hardware switch stacking. Connecting another chassis through Ethernet does not turn the pair into one hardware stack. Each chassis retains its own configuration and management access, so an order requiring shared hardware-stack operation needs a different switch architecture.
No, WS-C3560E-48TD-E has one internal power-supply slot, populated by C3K-PWR-265WAC in its standard configuration. External backup is supported through PWR-RPS2300 rather than a second internal module. The internal supply accepts 100-240V AC, so internal dual-supply redundancy should not appear as part of this chassis configuration.
WS-C3560E-48PD-E supplies PoE, while WS-C3560E-48TD-E is data-only and supplies no endpoint power. The PoE model has a shared 370W endpoint-power budget rather than full-power allocation across every port simultaneously. Both models are discontinued; the TD model suits existing separately powered endpoints, while the PD model matches legacy PoE requirements.
WS-C3560E-48TD-E includes IP Services, whereas WS-C3560E-48TD-S includes IP Base. IP Services adds advanced dynamic and multicast routing, including OSPF, EIGRP, BGP and PIM; IP Base provides basic static and RIP routing. Both are discontinued: the E variant matches legacy advanced-routing configurations, while the S variant addresses basic routing requirements.
C9300L-48T-4X-A provides four 10G uplinks, while WS-C3560E-48TD-E provides two 10G X2 interfaces. The forward migration chain passes through discontinued WS-C3560X-48T-E and discontinued WS-C3650-48TD-E before reaching C9300L-48T-4X-A. The older chassis matches an existing X2 installation; the current successor addresses a requirement for four 10G uplinks.
WS-C3560E-48TD-E supports 11000 total unicast routes with the routing template. The default template supports 8000 total routes, and the access template supports 6000. These are template-dependent allocations, not interchangeable simultaneous limits; select the intended memory allocation before loading a replacement chassis with the production routing configuration.
