WS-C3750-48PS-S is a Layer 3 enterprise access switch with 48 10/100 Mbps PoE ports and four fixed 1G SFP uplinks. The 1U rack-mount chassis belongs to the Catalyst 3750 series and carries the IP Base software image. IEEE 802.3af and Cisco prestandard power support legacy IP phones, wireless access points, and compliant powered devices. SFP-based uplinks accommodate selected transceivers rather than an interchangeable uplink-port card. The discontinued WS-C3750-48TS-S omits endpoint power, separating the powered and unpowered configurations. Copper endpoint connections remain Fast Ethernet; the Gigabit interfaces serve uplink connections. Match endpoint power requirements, uplink media, and the existing software configuration when specifying a replacement unit.
WS-C3750-48PS-S price for new stock is $157.24, a 29.8% saving from the Cisco list price of $224.10. WS-C3750-48PS-S refurb price is $80.83. WS-C3750-48PS-S is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

32 Gbps switching capacity defines the fabric available to access and uplink traffic. 13.1 Mpps forwarding provides the packet-rate basis for sizing this hardware model. 370W of shared PoE capacity sets the aggregate endpoint allocation rather than a maximum-power allowance for every port. Static, RIPv1, RIPv2, and EIGRP Stub provide basic routed access; advanced IPv6 dynamic routing is outside the supplied image. WS-C3750-48PS-S has 128 MB DRAM and 16 MB flash memory for control-plane operation and software storage. Configurable tables reach 12000 MAC entries and 11000 unicast routes, with resource allocation dependent on the selected configuration. STP, RSTP, and MSTP control redundant Layer 2 paths, while LACP aggregates physical links. 489W measured at full throughput with maximum PoE load includes endpoint power, so facility sizing must account for the connected load. Cisco Catalyst 3750-48PS management includes an out-of-band console connection for local configuration independently of in-band network access.
WS-C3750-48PS-S is offered new sealed or certified refurbished, with ORM coverage of up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units; returns are 30 days on every condition, terms apply. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, with PoE output verified under load on every powered port, firmware verified, and configurations wiped to factory default. Cisco's limited lifetime hardware warranty has ended following the July 31, 2015 support cutoff; specify condition and required accessory PIDs on the PO. PO accepted, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement cover enterprise and volume purchasing, with regional stock and RMA in UK, EU, US, and MEA.

When a legacy stack needs another powered member, Catalyst 3750 and Catalyst 3750-E switches can form one StackWise system. That interoperability concerns retaining an existing stack rather than changing generations. Identify the installed member models and required software functions before specifying the additional member on the PO.
When remote management must be validated before a site rollout, SSH and encrypted SNMPv3 require a cryptographic software image. Stage administrator access and the intended configuration with that image before release. Specify the required software image and management access method on the purchase order rather than assuming encryption follows from the hardware.
For a spare pool that must preserve a known software environment, software maintenance ended July 4, 2013. Treat image selection as a compatibility requirement rather than assuming future maintenance releases will arrive. Record the required software image, configuration baseline, and unit condition before placing the spares order.
Gigabit copper endpoint connections
WS-C3750-48PS-S limits its RJ-45 access ports to 10/100 Mbps. Its Gigabit interfaces are SFP uplinks, so the access ports cannot provide 1GbE copper endpoint connections.
PoE+ power for demanding endpoints
WS-C3750-48PS-S supplies IEEE 802.3af PoE rather than PoE+. Devices requiring more than 15.4W per port exceed its power class, regardless of the total endpoint count.
Native 10G distribution uplinks
WS-C3750-48PS-S has fixed 1G SFP uplinks. The built-in uplink interfaces cannot meet a native 10G distribution-link requirement, and an interchangeable uplink-port card is not available for this configuration.
Active Cisco service coverage
Cisco service for WS-C3750-48PS-S ended July 31, 2015. Specify C9300L-48P-4G-A as the current migration endpoint rather than another discontinued model in the replacement chain.

WS-C3750-48PS-S identifies a Catalyst 3750 switch: WS-C3750 is the family prefix, 48PS specifies 48 10/100 PoE ports with four Gigabit SFP uplinks, and the final -S identifies IP Base. The exact part number distinguishes this powered configuration from the unpowered and IP Services variants.
The Catalyst 3750 supports a console CLI, Telnet, SSH with a cryptographic image, browser-based setup, Cisco Network Assistant, CiscoWorks, and SNMPv1, v2c, or v3. SSH and encrypted SNMPv3 require the appropriate cryptographic software image. Specify the management access method and image requirements before staging the switch.
WS-C3750-48PS-S reached end of sale July 5, 2010, and end of support July 31, 2015. The model is discontinued and no longer receives Cisco service. Its direct replacement, WS-C3750V2-48PS-S, is also discontinued; the forward migration chain ends at C9300L-48P-4G-A.
WS-C3750-48PS-S is supplied with the IP Base software feature set, while IP Services is the separate feature set for advanced routing. Select the required image as part of the order. Full dynamic IPv6 routing belongs to IP Services rather than automatically following from the switch hardware.
WS-C3750-48PS-S provides a shared 370W PoE budget, with a per-port maximum of 15.4W. Supported allocations include 24 ports at 15.4W or 48 ports at 7.7W, with intermediate combinations possible. Size the combined endpoint demand rather than assuming every powered port can deliver its maximum simultaneously.
The Catalyst 3750-48PS provides four fixed 1G SFP uplinks, with GLC-SX-MM=, GLC-LH-SM=, and GLC-ZX-SM= available for fiber connections. The uplink architecture does not accept a removable uplink-port card. Match the transceiver PID to the fiber link and specify the required transceivers on the purchase order.
StackWise stacks nine Catalyst 3750 or Catalyst 3750-E members using a 32 Gbps interconnect. Select CAB-STACK-50CM=, CAB-STACK-1M=, or CAB-STACK-3M= according to interconnect spacing. The stack operates as one logical switch under an elected master; verify member software capabilities before extending an existing stack.
WS-C3750-48PS-S supports Static, RIPv1, RIPv2, and EIGRP Stub routing with its IP Base image, alongside HSRP. OSPF, BGPv4, IS-ISv4, PBR, and PIM-SM require IP Services. Match the required routing functions to the software image instead of treating the Layer 3 hardware designation as an unrestricted feature entitlement.
WS-C3750-48PS-S supports external backup power through PWR-RPS2300 or PWR675-AC-RPS-N1= rather than a second internal PSU bay. Its internal supply accepts 100-240V AC. Measured draw at full throughput with maximum PoE load is 489W, including endpoint power; external backup equipment must be specified separately from the switch.
WS-C3750-48PS-S requires 1U of rack space and measures 44 mm high, 445 mm wide, and 378 mm deep, with a weight of 6 kg. Its operating range is 0°C to 45°C. Reserve installation depth, power access, and cabling clearance when preparing the rack position.
The Catalyst 3750 supports STP, RSTP, MSTP, and LACP for loop prevention and link aggregation. Spanning tree controls redundant Layer 2 paths, while LACP groups physical links into aggregated connections. Match these settings to surrounding switches before restoring a saved configuration or placing the unit into an existing access network.
WS-C3750-48PS-S supplies PoE on its access ports, while WS-C3750-48TS-S provides unpowered access ports. Both models are discontinued. The powered model suits legacy phones or other PoE devices; the unpowered model suits separately powered endpoints where maintaining the existing switch generation is a requirement.
WS-C3750-48PS-E includes IP Services, while WS-C3750-48PS-S includes IP Base. IP Services adds advanced unicast and multicast routing beyond the base image. Both models are discontinued; the E variant addresses legacy configurations requiring those functions, while the S variant addresses installations retaining basic routed access.
C9300L-48P-4G-A is the current migration endpoint, while Cisco support for WS-C3750-48PS-S ended July 31, 2015. The intervening WS-C3750V2-48PS-S and WS-C3650-48PS-S models are discontinued. The current model suits forward refresh purchasing, while the original part suits maintaining a specifically matched legacy spare.
WS-C3750-48PS-S is offered new sealed or certified refurbished, with ORM warranties of up to 3-year extended for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units. Returns are 30 days on every condition; terms apply. Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware warranty ended with support on July 31, 2015.
