N3K-C3524-X-SPL3 is a managed Layer 3 data center switch with 24 enabled fixed SFP+ interfaces operating at 1 or 10 Gbps. The compact 1U chassis provides low-latency switching for top-of-rack server connections, with upstream links using the fixed interface pool rather than a removable uplink card. Cisco Nexus 3524-X belongs to the Nexus 3500 platform and supports fiber and direct-attach connections without PoE output. The discontinued N3K-C3524-X-SPL3A differs by adding the Algo Boost promotion to its Layer 3 bundle. There are no native QSFP cages or copper endpoint ports; connection planning therefore starts with the SFP+ interfaces and the required link medium.
N3K-C3524-X-SPL3 price for new stock is $29,902.36. N3K-C3524-X-SPL3 refurb price is $17,271.45. N3K-C3524-X-SPL3 is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

480 Gbps switching capacity and 360 Mpps forwarding support line-rate traffic across the enabled interfaces. N3K-C3524-X-SPL3 runs NX-OS with 4 GB DRAM and 4 GB flash for software operation and image storage. Normal mode supports 64000 MAC addresses and 24000 IPv4 unicast routes; software entitlements remain separate from those hardware limits. Base licensing supports static routing, RIPv2, OSPFv2 limited to 256 routes, EIGRP Stub, HSRP, VRRP, PIM-SM, SSM and MSDP, while LAN Enterprise enables advanced OSPFv2, EIGRP and BGP. An 18 MB packet buffer provides shared packet storage. SSHv2, the serial console, SNMP and Cisco DCNM provide administrative access and monitoring. Dual redundant power supplies and four fans support continued operation through individual component failures. 193W maximum consumption sets the switch-level allowance for power planning, distinct from the rating of an individual supply.
N3K-C3524-X-SPL3 is offered new sealed or certified refurbished; specify the condition and quantity on the purchase order. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on, POST, clean boot, rated-speed port links, optics bay recognition, PSU status and fan status, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. ORM provides up to a 3-year extended warranty on new units, up to 1 year on certified refurbished units, and 30-day returns on every condition, terms apply; Cisco's separate 1-year limited hardware warranty is bounded by January 31, 2027. For enterprise and volume orders, ORM accepts POs, offers Net-30 for government and RMA with advance replacement, with regional stock/RMA across the UK, EU, US and MEA.

When an existing rack needs additional connections without a chassis change, N3548-24P-UPG= activates a second group of 24 interfaces. Port activation is a software purchase rather than an uplink-card installation. Before the PO, specify the activation license and confirm the required connections and installed software entitlements.
When a spare must match an existing aisle arrangement, fan and power-supply airflow must agree. NXA-FAN-30CFM-F and N2200-PAC-400W provide port-side exhaust; NXA-FAN-30CFM-B and N2200-PAC-400W-B provide port-side intake. Record the installed airflow direction, supply type and required component quantities before specifying the spare configuration on the PO.
When laboratory hosts require jumbo frames, the switch supports an MTU of 9216 bytes. Staging should establish the intended frame size across the connected interfaces rather than assuming matching defaults throughout the path. Record the required MTU and acceptance checks before approving the hardware purchase order.
Native 25G or 100G interfaces
The fixed data interfaces operate at 1 or 10 Gbps. Logical 40 Gigabit Ethernet combines four sequential interfaces; native 25G and 100G connections are not provided.
Cisco support beyond January 2027
Cisco support ends January 31, 2027, regardless of remaining headline coverage. N3K-C3524P-XL is the current replacement; assess its software entitlements and support coverage separately.

N3K-C3524-X-SPL3 identifies a Nexus 3524-X with 24 enabled 10G ports and a Layer 3 promotion. N3K places the product in the Nexus 3000 family, C3524 identifies the 24-port model, X identifies the enhanced generation, and SPL3 identifies the Layer 3 promotional configuration.
N3K-C3524-X-SPL3 supports an NX-OS CLI through the serial console and SSHv2, plus Cisco DCNM, an XML interface and SNMP management. SNMP versions 1, 2 and 3 support monitoring integration. Select the administrative access method and monitoring credentials before introducing the switch into an existing management environment.
N3K-C3524-X-SPL3 reached end of sale on January 31, 2022, and its last date of support is January 31, 2027. Security remediation ended January 30, 2025. N3K-C3524P-XL is the replacement, so continued hardware support must not be confused with continuing software security maintenance.
ORM offers N3K-C3524-X-SPL3 new sealed or certified refurbished. ORM coverage is up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units, with 30-day returns on either condition; terms apply. Cisco's separate 1-year limited hardware warranty cannot extend beyond January 31, 2027.
N3K-C3524-X-SPL3 uses NX-OS feature licensing: Base enables routing functions, while N3524-LAN1K9 enables LAN Enterprise and requires Base. N3548-ALGK9 enables Algo Boost functions, and NDB-FX-SWT-K9 covers Nexus Data Broker use. Specify the required installed entitlements rather than assuming the promotional PID establishes every optional feature.
Yes, N3K-C3524-X-SPL3 can expand from 24 enabled interfaces to 48 using N3548-24P-UPG=. The additional interfaces are already physically present, so expansion requires port activation rather than another interface card. Include the activation entitlement and the connection hardware for the additional links in the expansion order.
The Nexus 3524-X supports SFP-10G-SR for multimode fiber, SFP-10G-LR for single-mode fiber and SFP-10G-ER for extended-reach single-mode connections. SFP-H10GB-CU3M provides a 3 m direct-attach copper option. Select the connection medium, required reach and matching interface at the remote end before specifying quantities.
The Nexus 3524-X accepts N2200-PAC-400W and N2200-PAC-400W-B AC supplies, with N2200-PDC-400W and N3K-PDC-350W-B DC options. Supply selection must match the required input and airflow direction. Confirm the actual installed supply configuration on the order rather than treating compatibility as a statement of included parts.
The Nexus 3524-X supports 24000 IPv4 unicast routes in normal mode, but routing features depend on licensing. Base limits OSPFv2 to 256 routes and provides EIGRP Stub; LAN Enterprise enables advanced OSPFv2, EIGRP and BGP. Hardware route capacity does not remove a software entitlement requirement.
N3K-C3524-X-SPL3A adds the Algo Boost promotion to the Layer 3 configuration offered by N3K-C3524-X-SPL3. Both are discontinued 24-port models. For existing installations, SPL3 addresses routed switching, while SPL3A addresses deployments requiring the Algo Boost functions, including NAT, warp mode and warp SPAN, with the corresponding entitlements.
N3K-C3548-X-SPL3 enables 48 10G interfaces, whereas N3K-C3524-X-SPL3 enables 24. Both are discontinued Layer 3 promotional configurations. In an installed-base comparison, the 48-port configuration addresses a larger connection count, while the 24-port configuration addresses deployments that do not need every physical interface activated.
N3K-C3524P-XL increases system memory to 16 GB compared with 4 GB in N3K-C3524-X-SPL3. N3K-C3524P-XL is the current replacement for the discontinued model. The XL addresses buyers moving to the extended-memory generation; the older configuration remains relevant when maintaining an existing Nexus 3524-X installation.
