The N9400 architecture uses Cisco Cloud Scale forwarding technology, with hardware capacity reaching approximately 500000 MAC entries and approximately 1000000 IPv4 longest-prefix-match routes. N9K-C9408 has 32 GB of system DRAM. These hardware ceilings remain distinct from software-release validation and licensed functionality. Static routing, SVIs, and HSRP are available without an additional license; dynamic routing requires a separately selected software entitlement.
