WS-C2918-48TC-C provides managed Layer 2 connectivity through 48 Fast Ethernet access ports and two dual-purpose Gigabit uplinks. The fixed 1U chassis belongs to the Cisco Catalyst 2918 family and provides no endpoint PoE. Copper and fiber uplink options accommodate different connection media without adding an uplink card. The series targets entry-level wiring closets and small branches, with Chinese-language labeling and a localized graphical interface reflecting its China-market positioning. The discontinued WS-C2918-48TT-C sibling instead provides copper-only Gigabit uplinks. This configuration serves legacy access requirements where endpoint connections remain at 10/100 speeds rather than native Gigabit Ethernet.

16 Gbps switching capacity supports aggregation between the access interfaces and uplinks. WS-C2918-48TC-C carries 64 MB DRAM and 32 MB flash for operating state and local software storage. An 8000-entry MAC address table sets the address-learning ceiling. STP, RSTP, MSTP and LACP provide loop-control and link-aggregation functions, while port security restricts access by MAC address. Administration includes the embedded web device manager, console CLI, Telnet, CiscoView and SNMP; a cryptographic Cisco IOS image provides SSH. 45W maximum power consumption establishes the switch load for AC power planning. The internal supply has no external RPS connection, and the rear fan exhaust must remain unobstructed.
WS-C2918-48TC-C is offered new sealed with up to a 3-year extended ORM warranty or certified refurbished with up to a 1-year ORM warranty; Cisco service and the original limited lifetime hardware warranty ended October 31, 2020. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed port links, clean boot, optics bay recognition, PSU status and fan status, with firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. Specify the condition, required optics and regional power cord on the PO; 30-day returns apply to every condition, terms apply. Submit enterprise and volume requirements together: PO accepted, Net-30 for government, RMA with advance replacement, and regional stock/RMA across UK, EU, US and MEA.

When several small sites need the same segmentation design, Catalyst 2918 supports 64 active VLANs while recognizing 4000 VLAN IDs. Treat the active VLAN ceiling as the purchasing constraint rather than the identifier range. Confirm each site's required segmentation count before specifying a common configuration and quantities on the PO.
When replacement hardware will be staged before shipment, Catalyst 2918 software packages must preserve both the Cisco IOS image and embedded device manager files. A combined TAR package contains both components. Retain an archived, validated package and identify the intended administration method before specifying the staging requirements for the order.
Native Gigabit speed on every endpoint
The access interfaces operate at 10/100 speeds. Gigabit connectivity is confined to the uplinks, so this configuration cannot provide native Gigabit connections across all endpoint ports.
Continuing Cisco support for new deployment
Cisco support ended October 31, 2020. The retired series cannot satisfy a procurement requirement for continuing manufacturer support or an active Cisco service entitlement.
Independent copper and fiber uplink interfaces
Each dual-purpose uplink provides one active interface, not independent copper and fiber links. Connecting both front ends does not create additional usable uplink capacity.

WS-C2918-48TC-C identifies a Catalyst 2918 fixed-configuration switch with 48 Fast Ethernet access ports and two dual-purpose Gigabit uplinks. Each uplink offers a copper connector and an SFP slot, with only one active at a time. Specify the complete PID when ordering a matching replacement unit.
WS-C2918-48TC-C supports the embedded web device manager, Cisco IOS CLI through the console or Telnet, CiscoView, and SNMP management; SSH is available with a cryptographic Cisco IOS image. The localized web interface is Chinese, so confirm the administration method and installed image before specifying configuration work.
WS-C2918-48TC-C is no longer supported by Cisco: Catalyst 2918 reached end of sale on October 22, 2015, and support ended October 31, 2020. The model is retired rather than a currently supported Cisco purchase. Define reseller-backed support expectations before committing to a legacy replacement order.
WS-C2918-48TC-C is offered new sealed with up to a 3-year extended ORM warranty or certified refurbished with up to a 1-year ORM warranty. Cisco's original limited lifetime hardware warranty ended with support on October 31, 2020. Both conditions have 30-day returns, terms apply; refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested.
WS-C2918-48TC-C accepts GLC-SX-MM= for multimode fiber and GLC-LH-SM= for single-mode or multimode fiber. Match the selected optic to the existing fiber plant and remote interface. Include the required optics in the purchase specification rather than treating an SFP cage as an installed optical connection.
Catalyst 2918 supports 64 active VLANs and 4000 VLAN IDs. The identifier range does not increase the number of VLANs that can be configured simultaneously. Count the VLANs required by the intended configuration before ordering, including any separate segments needed for administration and endpoint traffic.
WS-C2918-48TC-C uses a fixed internal AC supply and has no RPS port for an external redundant power system. Its input range is 100-240V AC. Specify the appropriate regional power cord and confirm that the installation accepts a single switch power input before placing the order.
No, the Catalyst 2918 device manager cannot create or manage switch clusters; cluster configuration requires the Cisco IOS CLI. The embedded web interface manages an individual switch, while cluster membership is administered from the command line. Include CLI-based staging when the purchase will join an existing cluster.
WS-C2918-48TC-C offers two dual-purpose copper/SFP uplinks, while WS-C2918-48TT-C has two copper-only Gigabit uplinks. Both models are discontinued. For legacy sparing, the TC configuration matches a fiber-or-copper uplink requirement; the TT configuration suits an installation whose uplink connections are exclusively copper Ethernet.
WS-C2918-48TC-C provides 48 Fast Ethernet access ports, while WS-C2918-24TC-C provides 24; both have two dual-purpose Gigabit uplinks and both are discontinued. For legacy replacement purchasing, the 48-port configuration matches higher endpoint counts, while the 24-port configuration suits a smaller existing access-port requirement.
