C9300-48UB-E is a higher-scale Layer 3 enterprise access switch with 48 Gigabit copper ports, Cisco UPOE power and a modular uplink bay in a 1U rack-mount chassis. Network Essentials supplies the perpetual routed-access tier for powered endpoints such as wireless access points, IP phones and building management gateways. The Cisco Catalyst 9300 Series sits within the Catalyst 9000 family, with this model distinguished by deeper packet buffering and expanded forwarding-table resources. The empty uplink bay accepts C9300-NM-4G, C9300-NM-4M, C9300-NM-8X, C9300-NM-2Y or C9300-NM-2Q; uplink speed depends on that selection rather than an installed fixed port. C9300-48UB-A retains the higher-scale hardware but includes Network Advantage for purchases requiring advanced routing.

256 Gbps switching capacity defines standalone fabric bandwidth for the access connections and a selected uplink configuration. 190.48 Mpps forwarding is rated using 64-byte IPv4 packets, while stacked switching capacity reaches 736 Gbps. C9300-48UB-E carries 8 GB DRAM and 16 GB flash for software operation and image storage. A 32 MB packet buffer provides queueing space for bursts, and 64000 MAC entries accommodate a larger address population than standard models. The 112000-entry IPv4 hardware total includes ARP and learned routes; that total is not an unrestricted routing entitlement. 1000 OSPF routes are supported under Network Essentials, alongside Static, RIPv1, RIPv2, RIPng, EIGRP Stub, PBR and VRRP. PIM Stub multicast is also limited to 1000 routes. MACsec-128 is included in the base tier, but BGP and MACsec-256 require Network Advantage. These license limits remain distinct from the higher-scale hardware resources.
Order C9300-48UB-E new sealed or certified refurbished, and specify the required quantity, condition and included accessories on the purchase order. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, with power-on and POST, rated-speed port links, clean boot and PoE output verified under load on every powered port; firmware is verified and configurations are wiped to factory default. ORM Systems provides up to a 3-year extended warranty on new units and up to 1 year on certified refurbished units, with 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply. Cisco UPOE limits each port to 60W. C9300-48H-E supports 90W UPOE+ on 48 ports; shared power budgets still govern simultaneous endpoint power allocation.
Expansion of a standard mixed stack
C9300-48UB-E cannot join stacks containing standard C9300, C9300X or C9300L hardware. Compatible stacks require higher-scale members with matching network license levels throughout the stack.

C9300-48UB-E identifies Catalyst 9300 hardware: C9300 names the series, 48 denotes 48 copper ports, UB identifies the higher-scale UPOE configuration, and E selects Network Essentials. The access ports operate at 1G, while uplink ports require a separately selected network module; the PID does not include a fixed uplink-speed code.
C9300-48UB-E supports CLI management over SSH or local console, embedded WebUI configuration, and Cisco Catalyst Center with a matching subscription. Local console access uses RJ-45 or USB mini-Type B connections. The embedded WebUI is included with the default image and does not require a separate WebUI license.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst 9300. C9300-48UB-E remains a hardware choice within this series; software releases and accessories can follow separate retirement schedules. Plan the purchase around the required hardware configuration and licensing rather than treating a software retirement announcement as hardware discontinuation.
C9300-48UB-E is offered new sealed or certified refurbished, with ORM warranties of up to three years extended for new units and up to one year for refurbished units. Returns are available for 30 days in either condition; terms apply. Cisco's Enhanced Limited Lifetime hardware warranty covers the original owner, subject to its five-year discontinuance limit.
C9300-48UB-E includes perpetual Network Essentials; new orders require a matching subscription. Cisco DNA Essentials or Advantage and Cisco Catalyst Essentials or Advantage start at three years; Cisco Switching Essentials or Advantage through Cisco Networking Subscription starts at 36 months. Expired Cisco DNA or Catalyst add-ons can be deactivated before reloading to retain base capabilities.
C9300-48UB-E provides 822W of shared PoE power with its default PWR-C1-1100WAC-P supply, and each Cisco UPOE port supports 60W. Installing a second PWR-C1-1100WAC-P increases the shared budget to 1800W. Endpoint demand must remain within the total budget; 48 ports cannot all receive 60W simultaneously.
C9300-48UB-E accepts C9300-NM-4G for four 1G uplinks, C9300-NM-8X for eight 10G/1G uplinks, C9300-NM-2Y for two 25G/10G/1G uplinks, C9300-NM-2Q for two 40G uplinks, or C9300-NM-4M for four Multigigabit uplinks. The base chassis has no installed uplink module; select the module and matching transceivers on the purchase order.
C9300-48UB-E supports eight-member StackWise-480 stacks at 480 Gbps, restricted to higher-scale C9300-24UB, C9300-24UXB and C9300-48UB hardware with matching license levels. Use STACK-T1-50CM, STACK-T1-1M or STACK-T1-3M cables. Standard C9300, C9300X and fixed-uplink C9300L hardware cannot join the stack, so verify every existing member before ordering an expansion unit.
C9300-48UB-E supports Layer 3 routed access with Static, RIPv1, RIPv2, RIPng, EIGRP Stub, OSPF limited to 1000 routes, PBR, VRRP and PIM Stub multicast limited to 1000 routes. The higher-scale hardware has 112000 total IPv4 entries, including ARP and learned routes; that hardware total does not remove Network Essentials protocol limits.
C9300-48UB-E ships with one PWR-C1-1100WAC-P power supply and an empty second internal power-supply bay, so redundant power is optional rather than standard. A second PWR-C1-1100WAC-P can be specified with the order. Power-source redundancy and shared PoE capacity must be planned separately from the per-port Cisco UPOE rating.
C9300-48UB-E supplies Cisco UPOE at 60W per port, while C9300-48P-E supplies PoE+ at 30W per port. Both provide 48 Gigabit copper access connections and modular uplinks. Choose C9300-48UB-E for endpoints requiring more than 30W; C9300-48P-E suits purchases limited to PoE+ endpoint power.
C9300-48UB-A includes Network Advantage, whereas C9300-48UB-E includes Network Essentials on the same higher-scale hardware. Network Advantage adds BGP, full EIGRP and IS-IS; Network Essentials provides bounded routed-access capabilities. C9300-48UB-E suits constrained access routing, while C9300-48UB-A fits orders requiring advanced routing rather than a hardware change.
C9300-48UB-E has 48 Gigabit copper access ports; C9300-24UB-E has 24. Both are higher-scale Cisco UPOE configurations with modular uplinks and Network Essentials. C9300-48UB-E suits a larger endpoint count in one chassis, while C9300-24UB-E suits orders where 24 access connections meet the required density.
