C1200-8T-E-2G is a fanless Desktop switch with eight Gigabit copper access ports and two fixed Gigabit copper/SFP combo uplinks. Its Layer 2+ feature set supports switching and static routing without adding endpoint PoE. Each uplink accepts a copper connection or a fiber transceiver, with one connection active per pair. The Catalyst 1200 series serves small-business networks connecting separately powered computers, printers, and other wired devices. C1200-8P-E-2G differs by providing eight PoE+ ports sharing a 67W budget. This eight-port Gigabit switch uses external AC power rather than an internal supply, so the order should match the intended link media and installation arrangement.
C1200-8T-E-2G price for new stock is $307.65, a 58.6% saving from the Cisco list price of $742.50. C1200-8T-E-2G refurb price is $273.00. C1200-8T-E-2G is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

20 Gbps switching capacity accommodates the ten logical Gigabit connections without an oversubscribed switching fabric. 14.88 Mpps forwarding handles 64-byte packets at the published wire-speed rate. 32 static IPv4 routes support limited inter-network forwarding rather than dynamic routing. STP, RSTP, MSTP, and LACP provide loop control and link aggregation. C1200-8T-E-2G combines 1 GB DRAM, 512 MB flash, and a dual-core 1.4 GHz CPU for configuration and software operation; a shared 1.5 MB packet buffer handles queued traffic. Management includes browser access and a scriptable CLI, while Cisco Business Dashboard and the Cisco Business mobile app provide additional administration paths. 10.65W maximum power consumption sizes the AC load without an endpoint-power allocation.
ORM Systems offers C1200-8T-E-2G new sealed with up to a 3-year extended warranty or certified refurbished with up to a 1-year warranty; every condition includes 30-day returns, with terms applying. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed links on every port, clean boot, optics bay recognition, and rated output from the supplied adapter; firmware is verified and configurations are wiped to factory default. Specify this switch’s condition and required accessories on the purchase order. For enterprise and volume orders, PO is accepted, Net-30 is available for government, and RMA includes advance replacement, with regional stock and RMA across the UK, EU, US, and MEA.

When replacing a discontinued CBS250-8T-E-2G-NA that reached end of sale on October 29, 2024, use the replacement purchase to reconcile installed asset and cabling records. Record the old regional PID, existing link media, and required mounting accessories before issuing the new hardware PO.
When separate business workgroups need local communication, the 16 IP-interface limit determines how many routed interfaces the configuration can accommodate. Prepare the interface and addressing schedule, identify which networks remain behind an external router, and check the required interface count before specifying the purchase.
When staging a configuration for traffic inspection, port mirroring supports up to four source ports feeding one destination port. Reserve the analyzer connection in the test plan, identify the traffic sources, and include the required analyzer cabling in the lab purchase before approving the PO.
10G uplinks to distribution
Uplinks are limited to 1G. C1200-24T-4X provides four 10G SFP+ uplinks, but also changes access density to 24 copper ports.
Endpoint power from access ports
C1200-8T-E-2G supplies no endpoint PoE. C1200-8P-E-2G provides eight PoE+ ports sharing 67W, so endpoint demand must fit that shared budget.

C1200-8T-E-2G identifies a Catalyst 1200 switch: C1200 is the series, 8T represents eight non-PoE Gigabit copper access ports, E indicates external power, and 2G represents two Gigabit copper/SFP combo uplinks. Keep the complete part number on the purchase order because the eight-port family also includes powered variants.
Catalyst 1200 switches support HTTP/HTTPS web management, CLI over SSH or Telnet, RJ-45 or USB-C console access, Cisco Business Dashboard, the Cisco Business mobile app, and SNMP versions 1, 2c, and 3. Select the administration path and administrator access requirements during staging before approving the production configuration.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst 1200. C1200-8T-E-2G remains in an available series. For replacement projects, keep the installed switch’s full regional part number on the asset record so older-model lifecycle milestones are not assigned to the new hardware.
ORM Systems offers C1200-8T-E-2G new sealed with up to a 3-year extended warranty or certified refurbished with up to a 1-year warranty. Cisco’s hardware warranty is Limited Lifetime with return-to-factory replacement. Every condition has 30-day returns; terms apply. Refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, with firmware verified and configurations wiped to factory default.
C1200-8T-E-2G requires no separately purchased switch software license or mandatory switch-license subscription term. Software updates are available at no additional cost. Specify the hardware and needed accessories as separate PO items rather than adding an enterprise network-license tier that does not belong to this series.
C1200-8T-E-2G replaces CBS250-8T-E-2G-AR, CBS250-8T-E-2G-AU, CBS250-8T-E-2G-SP, CBS250-8T-E-2G-EU, CBS250-8T-E-2G-JP, CBS250-8T-E-2G-NA, CBS250-8T-E-2G-TW, CBS250-8T-E-2G-UK, CBS250-8T-E-2G-BR, and CBS250-8T-E-2G-IN. The eight AR/AU/SP/EU/JP/NA/TW/UK variants and the BR variant ended sale on October 29, 2024; the IN variant ended sale on January 31, 2025. These older models are discontinued.
C1200-8T-E-2G provides two fixed 1G combo uplinks, each pairing a copper connector with an SFP cage; only one connection in each pair can be active. These are two logical uplinks, not four independent ports. Specify copper or fiber for each uplink and confirm the media matches the distribution connection.
C1200-8T-E-2G supports static IPv4 routing with a maximum of 32 routes. The Layer 2+ configuration suits routing arrangements that can be maintained explicitly rather than learned dynamically. Prepare the required route list and next-hop assignments before ordering, and confirm that the intended configuration stays within the route limit.
Yes, C1200-8T-E-2G can be rack mounted using RCKMNT-CMPCT-1K=. The compact Desktop chassis measures 268 mm wide, 185 mm deep, and 44 mm high. Rack brackets are not included with eight-port models, so specify RCKMNT-CMPCT-1K= when the installation requires rack mounting rather than desktop placement.
C1200-8P-E-2G supplies PoE+ on eight ports with a shared 67W budget, while C1200-8T-E-2G provides no endpoint power. Choose the powered model when the switch must energize attached devices; choose the non-PoE model when those devices already have separate power arrangements.
C1200-8T-D can receive 802.3af PoE through port 1 or use AC power, while C1200-8T-E-2G uses an external AC adapter. C1200-8T-D suits installations powered from an upstream PoE connection; C1200-8T-E-2G requires an AC-power arrangement at the installation location. Specify the intended input method before ordering.
C1200-16T-2G provides sixteen Gigabit copper access ports, while C1200-8T-E-2G provides eight. Count the wired endpoints and required spare connections before selecting the access density. The eight-port model suits a smaller endpoint count; the sixteen-port model accommodates a larger group without requiring a second access switch.
