56 Gbps switching capacity supports nonblocking operation across the built-in interfaces. 41.67 Mpps forwarding at 64-byte packet size establishes the packet-processing rate for small-frame traffic. 375W of shared PoE power supplies connected endpoints within the aggregate allocation. Static IPv4 routing handles communication between networks within a 32-route limit, while 16 IP interfaces bound the routed configuration. C1200-24FP-4G carries 1 GB of DRAM and 512 MB of flash for its customized Linux OS, with a dynamically shared 1.5 MB packet buffer across all ports. The Catalyst 1200 maintains 8000 MAC entries for address learning. STP, RSTP, and MSTP provide Layer 2 loop control, while LACP aggregates physical links. Routing is static rather than dynamically learned. Browser configuration and a scriptable CLI provide local operational paths; retain an external copy of the intended configuration for staging and recovery.

When replacing a discontinued CBS250-24FP-4G-NA, the migration target is C1200-24FP-4G. The older model reached end of sale on October 29, 2024. Treat the replacement as a new configuration and accessory check rather than assuming the existing order can be copied unchanged; specify the replacement PID and required condition on the PO.
When several small-business sites need a common configuration, the limit of 255 simultaneously active VLANs provides a boundary for the shared template. Text-editable configuration files can be downloaded to another switch. Separate site-specific addressing and credentials from the common settings, and confirm the intended VLAN count before specifying rollout quantities.
When adding equipment to a crowded branch rack, ventilation clearance is an installation constraint rather than an optional accessory. Allow at least 76 mm around ventilation openings and keep the airflow path unobstructed. Include available rack space and cable routing in the installation check before specifying the switch quantity on the PO.

Fanless operation in occupied spaces
C1200-24FP-4G uses one fan. C1200-24P-4G is fanless, but its 195W PoE budget is lower, so the endpoint power allocation must also change.

C1200-24FP-4G identifies a Catalyst 1200 model: C1200 is the series, 24 is the access-port count, FP identifies the PoE+ configuration with a 375W budget, and 4G means four Gigabit SFP uplinks. The copper access ports support 10/100/1000 Mbps connections, and the chassis is rack-mountable.
C1200-24FP-4G supports an HTTP/HTTPS web UI, CLI over SSH or Telnet, RJ-45 and USB Type-C console access, Cisco Business Dashboard, the Cisco Business mobile app, and SNMP 1/2c/3. Bluetooth management uses an external USB dongle. Choose the intended access path and authentication settings before staging.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst 1200. C1200-24FP-4G is an available model, so an end-of-sale milestone for an older switch must not be applied to this PID. Keep lifecycle review separate from the condition and coverage specified for the order.
