Each uplink offers a copper or fiber connection rather than two independently usable interfaces. An external AC adapter supplies mains power to the compact chassis.

C1200-8P-E-2G runs the customized Linux OS of the Catalyst 1200 Series Switches, with static IPv4 routing limited to 32 routes and 16 IP interfaces. Dynamic routing is outside its routing capabilities.

C1200-8P-E-2G identifies a Catalyst 1200 switch with eight Gigabit PoE+ access ports, external power and two Gigabit copper/SFP combo uplinks. C1200 identifies the series, 8 identifies the access-port count, P identifies powered ports, E identifies external power and 2G identifies the two Gigabit uplinks.
C1200-8P-E-2G supports an HTTP/HTTPS web UI, CLI over SSH or Telnet, RJ-45 and USB-C console access, SNMP, Cisco Business Dashboard and Cisco Business mobile app. Optional Bluetooth access also supports browser and CLI sessions.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst 1200. The series remains available to order. End-of-sale milestones affecting its discontinued CBS250 predecessors do not constitute an end-of-sale announcement for the Catalyst 1200 replacement models.

CBS250-8P-E-2G-IN ended sales January 31, 2025. Those predecessor dates do not discontinue the replacement.
67W is the shared PoE budget of C1200-8P-E-2G, with 30W maximum per powered Gigabit port. Eight ports cannot each draw their individual maximum simultaneously. Sum endpoint allocations before ordering; the aggregate allocation must remain within the switch's available power budget.
The eight-port Gigabit PoE+ switch has two combo uplinks, each supporting either its copper connector or its SFP slot at 1G. One interface per combo port is active at a time. Copper and fiber can therefore be selected independently across the two uplinks.
C1200-8P-E-2G powers endpoints through eight PoE+ access ports; C1200-8T-E-2G provides eight data-only access ports. Both retain two Gigabit copper/SFP combo uplinks. Choose the powered model for Ethernet-powered devices and the data-only model when the connected endpoints have independent power supplies.
C1200-8P-E-2G uses an external AC adapter, while C1200-8FP-2G has an internal AC power supply. This changes how mains power reaches the chassis. Select the adapter-powered model when an external adapter is acceptable, or the internal-supply model when power conversion must remain inside the switch.
C1200-16P-2G has 16 Gigabit PoE+ access ports, compared with eight on C1200-8P-E-2G. The additional access-port density changes how many endpoints each switch can terminate. Specify the eight-port model for smaller connection schedules and the 16-port model when more dedicated endpoint connections belong on one chassis.
