Multigigabit Access for Powered SMB Endpoints

C1300X-24MU-4X provides 2.5G connectivity on all 24 RJ-45 access ports, combining sixteen PoE+ ports with eight PoE++ ports for higher-draw endpoints. The managed Layer 3 switch includes four fixed 10G uplinks in SFP28 cages and occupies a 1U rack position; no removable uplink card is required. Cisco Catalyst 1300X Series Switches serve small and medium-sized businesses and enterprise branch offices connecting wireless access points, phones, cameras and other network devices. The nearest powered sibling, C1300X-24P-4X, allocates 385W to endpoint power rather than this model's larger allocation. A customized Linux OS supplies the embedded switching software. The broader Cisco Catalyst 1300/X portfolio includes controls for separating guest connections from business traffic, including private VLANs and port isolation, alongside inter-VLAN routing for locally connected subnets.

C1300X-24MU-4X price is $1,844.85. C1300X-24MU-4X is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

Technical Details

200 Gbps switching capacity provides nonblocking forwarding across the access and uplink interfaces. 148.8 Mpps forwarding performance applies to 64-byte packets, giving a small-packet benchmark for comparing traffic requirements. 740W of shared PoE capacity limits aggregate endpoint demand independently of each powered port's individual allowance. OSPFv2 and OSPFv3 support dynamic route exchange, while RIP v2, static routing and PBR provide additional forwarding options. C1300X-24MU-4X carries 2 GB DRAM and 1 GB flash for operating software and configuration storage. An aggregate 3 MB packet buffer is dynamically shared across the ports rather than dedicated to individual connections. STP/RSTP/MSTP control Layer 2 forwarding topology, and LACP supports link aggregation. Traffic analysis can use sFlow export to external collectors, while dual software images support firmware maintenance. The chassis is not fanless: one fan provides active cooling. Copper-port energy detection turns off unused links, and time-based PoE controls allow powered-port operation to follow a configured schedule.

Ordering

Specify C1300X-24MU-4X in new sealed or certified refurbished condition, with required accessory PIDs and quantities on the PO. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, links at rated speed on every port, clean boot, and PoE output under load on every powered port; firmware is verified and configuration is wiped to factory default. ORM warranties provide up to 3-year extended coverage for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units, with 30-day returns on both conditions; terms apply. Enterprise and volume orders are accepted by PO, with Net-30 for government, RMA with advance replacement, and regional stock and RMA in the UK, EU, US and MEA.

Buying Notes

Buying NotesKey Specs

No additional switch license

C1300X-24MU-4X requires no separate switch license purchase, so omit a network feature license from the hardware order. Software updates are available without an additional license or service requirement.

Size the shared power allocation

Endpoint power allocation must account for 16 x 30W plus 8 x 60W equaling 960W, exceeding the available budget by 220W. Size connected-device demand before ordering C1300X-24MU-4X.

Keep stack membership within family

C1300X-24MU-4X cannot join a Catalyst 1300 stack. Order Catalyst 1300X partners and reserve front-panel interfaces for stack links; SFP-H25G-CU1M provides a supported 1 m 25G connection for stacking.

Match optics to fiber reach

C1300X-24MU-4X fiber connections require compatible transceivers: specify SFP-10G-SR for multimode runs or SFP-10G-LR for single-mode runs to 10 km. Include the selected optics as separate purchase-order line items.

Best For

Routed Branch Refresh

When a branch refresh moves inter-VLAN gateways onto the access switch, plan the interface layout before replacing hardware. The switch supports 256 IP interfaces, with routed interfaces available on physical ports, VLANs, link aggregation groups and loopbacks. Specify gateway addressing and the required routing configuration before issuing the equipment PO.

Multi-Site Policy Standardization

For a multi-site order that must carry a common access-control policy, review rule counts before standardizing hardware. Catalyst 1300X supports 3072 ACL rules, including time-based rules and ingress or egress application. Include each site's policy requirements in the equipment schedule and confirm the rule allocation before issuing a volume PO.

Console-Based Staging

When a rollout requires a separate staging batch, choose the console connection before technicians receive the switches. CAB-CONSOLE-RJ45 provides RJ-45 console access, while CAB-CONSOLE-USB-C provides a USB-C console connection. Specify the required console cable PID and quantities with the staging units so the purchase order includes the chosen connection method.

Not Suitable If

5G connectivity on access ports

C1300X-24MU-4X access ports stop at 2.5G. C1300X-24NGU-4X provides eight 5G access ports, with the remaining sixteen ports limited to Gigabit Ethernet.

25G uplinks to other devices

C1300X-24MU-4X reserves 25G operation for stacking connections; the four front-panel fiber interfaces provide ordinary network uplinks at a maximum of 10G.

PoE++ power on every port

C1300X-24MU-4X limits 60W PoE++ to eight ports. C1300X-10NU-2X provides ten 60W-capable ports with a shared 385W budget, but reduces access density to ten ports.

Fanless operation in occupied rooms

C1300X-24MU-4X uses one fan, with acoustic noise of 47.9 dBA at 25°C; the enclosure is actively cooled rather than fanless.

Questions & Answers

What does each segment of C1300X-24MU-4X mean?

C1300X-24MU-4X identifies a Catalyst 1300X switch: C1300X names the family, 24 denotes the access-port count, MU corresponds to the mixed 2.5G powered-port configuration, and 4X denotes four 10G uplinks. The access ports comprise sixteen 30W PoE+ ports and eight 60W PoE++ ports; no license-tier suffix is present.

How much PoE power does C1300X-24MU-4X provide?

C1300X-24MU-4X provides a shared 740W PoE budget across sixteen 30W PoE+ ports and eight 60W PoE++ ports. All ports cannot draw their individual maximum simultaneously, because those allowances total 960W. Specify actual endpoint demand and allocate the available power rather than assuming every port can operate at its maximum.

Can C1300X-24MU-4X provide 25G network uplinks?

No, C1300X-24MU-4X supports 10G network uplinks; 25G operation is reserved for stacking. The four fixed SFP28 cages do not provide general-purpose 25G Ethernet uplinks. For fiber connections, specify SFP-10G-SR for multimode fiber or SFP-10G-LR for single-mode fiber, with the required optics ordered separately.

How many switches can join a Catalyst 1300X stack?

Catalyst 1300X Front Panel Stacking supports a maximum of eight members, including C1300X-24MU-4X. A stack can use a ring or chain topology, and Catalyst 1300 members cannot join the Catalyst 1300X stack. SFP-H25G-CU1M is a supported 1 m 25G direct-attach cable for the stack connections.

Does C1300X-24MU-4X support OSPF routing?

Yes, C1300X-24MU-4X is a Layer 3 switch supporting OSPFv2 and OSPFv3, alongside RIP v2, static routing and PBR. The switch supports 7168 IPv4 routes shared between static and dynamic entries, plus 256 IP interfaces. Size gateway addressing and route tables against those limits before specifying the routed configuration.

How is C1300X-24MU-4X managed?

C1300X-24MU-4X is managed through its HTTP/HTTPS web UI, CLI over SSH or Telnet, RJ-45 or USB-C console, Cisco Business Dashboard, Cisco Business mobile app, and SNMP. Optional Bluetooth access uses an external USB dongle for browser or CLI sessions. Select the management path and any console cable before ordering.

Does C1300X-24MU-4X require a separate switch license?

No, C1300X-24MU-4X requires no separate switch license purchase, and software updates are available without an additional license or service requirement. The hardware order therefore does not need a separate line item to activate the included switch feature set. Specify the hardware and required connection accessories without adding a network feature license.

What power input does C1300X-24MU-4X require?

C1300X-24MU-4X uses an internal universal AC power supply accepting 100-240V AC at 50-60 Hz. Worst-case consumption including PoE reaches 870.4W at 110V, while idle consumption is 22.3W at 110V. Specify the regional power cord and size upstream power capacity for the fully loaded switch rather than its idle draw.

Is the Catalyst 1300X series discontinued?

Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst 1300X. C1300X-24MU-4X is an available family member with a 2.5G powered-access configuration. The series includes distinct access-port speeds, powered-port arrangements and port counts, so retain the complete PID when placing an order or matching a spare to an installed unit.

What conditions and warranties does ORM Systems offer for C1300X-24MU-4X?

ORM Systems offers C1300X-24MU-4X new sealed or certified refurbished. Cisco's hardware warranty is limited lifetime with return-to-factory replacement; ORM's separate warranties are up to 3-year extended for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units. Both conditions include 30-day returns, terms apply.

What is the difference between C1300X-24MU-4X and C1300X-24P-4X?

C1300X-24MU-4X provides a 740W shared PoE budget, compared with 385W on C1300X-24P-4X. The larger allocation accommodates a higher aggregate endpoint power requirement, but connected-device demand must remain within the available total. Choose C1300X-24P-4X for the smaller power allocation and C1300X-24MU-4X when endpoint sizing requires more.

What is the difference between C1300X-24MU-4X and C1300X-24NGU-4X?

C1300X-24MU-4X provides 2.5G on all 24 access ports, while C1300X-24NGU-4X combines sixteen Gigabit Ethernet ports with eight 5G ports. Choose C1300X-24MU-4X when every endpoint connection needs 2.5G; choose C1300X-24NGU-4X when eight faster endpoint links can coexist with sixteen connections limited to Gigabit Ethernet.

What is the difference between C1300X-24MU-4X and C1300X-48NGU-4X?

C1300X-48NGU-4X supplies 48 access ports, while C1300X-24MU-4X supplies 24. The difference matters when the purchase is driven by the number of endpoint connections assigned to one switch. C1300X-24MU-4X suits a 24-connection requirement; C1300X-48NGU-4X suits buyers consolidating a larger endpoint count into one chassis.
