When an existing SAN needs additional storage connection density, the MDS 9509 offers seven switching or services bays rather than a fixed access-port inventory. Slot allocation must account for the required card mix and occupied positions. Specify each installed card, its port count and the corresponding optical interfaces before the PO.
During SAN lab preparation, a port assigned as a SPAN destination cannot carry normal storage traffic at the same time. Monitoring therefore changes the usable connection plan independently of chassis size. Reserve the required analyzer connection and confirm the remaining production-facing port inventory before issuing the PO.
