16W of module consumption belongs in the complete assembly's power requirement, separate from the host's own demand. The measurement is taken at 12V and is not an AC input rating. IEM-3300-14T2S uses fanless convection cooling, so enclosure conditions matter when planning heat removal. Management runs through the base switch's WebUI, CLI and network-management tools rather than a separate module console. Copper interfaces support lower Ethernet speeds for attached legacy equipment. A separate EMC ground is required for the expansion module; the host's safety ground does not replace that connection. Build the endpoint and fiber patching schedule around the complete assembly, and confirm the host model before specifying the module on the PO.
For a planned module installation, the base switch must be de-energized before the side connector is joined. Attach the module before mounting the assembly on the DIN rail. Include the shutdown sequence, installation labor and required cabinet access in the work package before ordering.
Standalone operation without a base switch
IEM-3300-14T2S is an expansion module, not an independent switch. A compatible Catalyst IE3300 or Catalyst IE3400 base switch is required for operation.
PoE power on added copper ports
IEM-3300-14T2S provides data-only copper connections. IEM-3300-16P= adds PoE/PoE+ instead, but requires a PoE-capable base switch and a power source sized for the complete assembly.
10G fiber ports on the module
IEM-3300-14T2S provides Gigabit SFP connections, not 10G SFP+ ports. Selecting a base switch with faster uplinks does not increase the module's port speeds.

IEM-3300-14T2S identifies an expansion module: IEM denotes the module, 3300 identifies the Catalyst IE3300 family, 14T describes fourteen Gigabit copper ports, and 2S describes two Gigabit SFP ports. IEM-3300-14T2S= is the spare ordering form of this expansion hardware, not a standalone switch or a separately licensed base.
IEM-3300-14T2S is managed through its host switch, not through a separate module interface.
