This managed, non-PoE Nexus 6001 configuration runs NX-OS with a Layer 2 base feature set; routed operation requires additional licenses. The Cisco Nexus 6001T supports direct server attachment and fabric extender aggregation within the Nexus 6000 family. Its uplink interfaces are built in rather than supplied through a removable network card. The discontinued N6K-C6001-64P uses SFP+ downlinks instead of copper. For an existing installation, interface media and software entitlements therefore matter when reviewing a proposed chassis substitution; membership in the same switch family does not make the two connection formats interchangeable.

N6K-C6001-64T shares 25 MB of buffering across each group of 12 10G ports or three 40G ports, making shared-buffer allocation relevant to congestion planning. Jumbo frames reach 9216 bytes for workloads requiring larger Ethernet frames. Management includes a dedicated Ethernet interface and serial console, with remote CLI and external management access. Optional Layer 3 Base licensing permits a maximum of 256 dynamic routes; Layer 3 Enterprise licensing adds BGP, full EIGRP, and IS-IS. The base software does not enable IP unicast or multicast routing.
