SG550X-48P-K9 is a managed Layer 2+ switch with 48 Gigabit PoE+ access ports and four fixed 10G uplinks in a rack-mount 1U chassis. Two uplinks are dedicated SFP+ cages, while two combine 10GBASE-T and SFP+ interfaces, with only one medium active in each pair. Sixteen access ports support 60W PoE for compatible high-draw endpoints, including wireless access points or connected lighting. The Cisco 550X Series Stackable Managed Switches serve small-business networks that need powered access alongside shared administration. SG550X-48MP-K9, also discontinued, increases available endpoint power to 740W. The SG550X-48P also uses automatic voice VLAN assignment and voice QoS to handle IP phones alongside data endpoints.
SG550X-48P-K9 price for new stock is $1,989.75, a 69% saving from the Cisco list price of $6,421.34. SG550X-48P-K9 refurb price is $883.58. SG550X-48P-K9 is in stock and available for next-day dispatch. (terms applied)

176 Gbps switching capacity supports nonblocking forwarding across the interfaces, and 130.94 Mpps is the forwarding rate for 64-byte packets. Static routing and RIP v2 handle local IP forwarding, while PBR controls next-hop selection and VRRP provides default-gateway redundancy. The routing resources accommodate 7168 IPv4 routes and 1792 IPv6 static routes. SG550X-48P-K9 combines 512 MB of memory with 256 MB of flash for control and image storage. A dynamically shared 3 MB packet buffer serves all ports, while the forwarding database accommodates 16000 MAC addresses. Support for 4094 active VLANs allows separate broadcast domains; STP, RSTP, MSTP, and LACP govern loop prevention and aggregated connections. DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection, and IP Source Guard filter unauthorized addressing behavior. Management traffic reaches the device through in-band Ethernet or the RJ-45 console rather than a dedicated out-of-band Ethernet management port.
Specify SG550X-48P-K9 as new sealed or certified refurbished, and confirm the regional ordering form and included accessories before issuing the PO. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested for power-on and POST, rated-speed links on every port, clean boot, PoE output under load on every powered port, optics bay recognition, and PSU and fan status, with firmware verified and configurations wiped to factory default. ORM warranties cover new units for up to a 3-year extended term and certified refurbished units for up to 1 year; returns are 30 days on every condition, terms apply, while Cisco's separate limited lifetime hardware warranty ends July 31, 2027. Enterprise and volume orders can use PO acceptance, Net-30 for government, and RMA with advance replacement across UK, EU, US, and MEA.

When an existing network needs local inter-VLAN forwarding without increasing its router's internal traffic load, the switch supports 256 IPv4 interfaces across physical ports, link aggregation groups, VLANs, and loopbacks. Confirm interface allocation and the upstream routing design before specifying the unit on the purchase order.
For repeated branch installations, text-editable configuration files and secure autoconfiguration reduce the need to enter each setting at the console. The switch supports three CLI privilege levels, 1, 7, and 15, for differentiated access. Specify the approved configuration, management credentials, and installation-specific files before ordering each batch.
When staging configuration or firmware changes before a maintenance window, dual software images allow a separate image to be retained, and port mirroring can collect traffic from eight source ports. Include the intended software image, saved configuration, and analyzer connection in the acceptance checklist before ordering spare units.
25G uplinks to distribution
SG550X-48P-K9 supports a maximum uplink speed of 10G through its fixed interfaces. A 25G distribution connection exceeds the switch's supported uplink speeds.
Fanless operation in occupied rooms
SG550X-48P-K9 uses four cooling fans, including one redundant fan. Its acoustic rating is 43.6 dB at ambient temperatures from 0°C to 25°C.
Cisco support beyond July 2027
SG550X-48P-K9 reaches its last date of Cisco support on July 31, 2027. C1300-48P-4X is the current successor at the end of its migration chain.

SG550X-48P-K9 identifies the 550X Gigabit stackable model with 48 PoE+ access ports and four 10G uplinks. SG550X names the Gigabit model group, 48 is the access-port count, and P marks PoE. The United States ordering form is SG550X-48P-K9-NA; NA selects the regional version following K9.
SG550X-48P-K9 supports an HTTP/HTTPS web interface, Textview CLI through the RJ-45 console or SSH/Telnet, SNMP, Smart Network Application, FindIT Network Manager and Probe, and the FindIT Network Discovery Utility. The embedded FindIT Network Probe enables network-level monitoring without a separate probe appliance. Management has no dedicated out-of-band Ethernet port.
SG550X-48P-K9 provides a shared 382W PoE budget across 48 powered access ports, with 16 ports supporting 60W PoE and the remaining ports supporting 30W maximum output. Endpoint allocations must remain within the total budget. The 60W capability does not mean every powered port can supply 60W.
The SG550X-48P provides four fixed 10G uplinks: two dedicated SFP+ interfaces and two shared 10GBASE-T/SFP+ interfaces. Each shared pair supports one active medium at a time. The uplinks also support 1G operation, and fiber connections require separately specified compatible optics rather than a removable uplink card.
The 550X supports eight members in a hardware stack using 10G copper or fiber interconnects. Ring and chain arrangements are supported. SFP-H10GB-CU1M and SFP-H10GB-CU3M provide supported direct-attach cable options. Interconnect ports must be reserved when planning the remaining connections for distribution or other network links.
SG550X-48P-K9 supports static IPv4 routing, static IPv6 routing, RIP v2, PBR, and VRRP. Its routing resources support 7168 IPv4 routes and 1792 IPv6 static routes. Routed interfaces can use physical ports, link aggregation groups, VLAN interfaces, or loopbacks, with a maximum of 256 IPv4 interfaces.
No, the SG550X-48P uses an internal AC supply and an external RPS connection rather than redundant internal power modules. The internal input accepts 100-240V AC. Worst-case consumption reaches 494.3W with PoE at 110V, so electrical provisioning must account for endpoint power as well as switching electronics.
SG550X-48P-K9 reached end of sale July 30, 2022, and Cisco support ends July 31, 2027. Software maintenance ended July 30, 2023. The original replacement, CBS350-48P-4X-NA, is also discontinued; the forward migration chain now ends at C1300-48P-4X for buyers evaluating a current replacement.
SG550X-48P-K9 replaced the discontinued SF550X-48P-K9-AU, SF550X-48P-K9-BR, SF550X-48P-K9-EU, SF550X-48P-K9-NA, and SF550X-48P-K9-UK regional models. Those Fast Ethernet switches reached end of sale on June 18, 2020, and Cisco support ended June 30, 2025. The replacement retains 48 powered access ports while moving access connections to Gigabit Ethernet.
SG550X-48P-K9 supplies a 382W shared PoE budget, while SG550X-48MP-K9 supplies 740W. Both models are discontinued. The difference matters when allocating power across connected endpoints: the P model suits loads within its smaller budget, while the MP model accommodates a larger aggregate powered-device allocation.
SG550X-48P-K9 has 48 Gigabit access ports, whereas SG550X-24P-K9 has 24 Gigabit access ports. Both are discontinued members of the same family. The 48-port model addresses denser endpoint concentrations; the 24-port model serves installations whose required access connections fit within the smaller port count.
SG550X-48P-K9 is discontinued, while C1300-48P-4X is the current endpoint of its replacement chain. The intermediate CBS350-48P-4X-NA is also discontinued. Buyers maintaining an existing legacy installation may need the older unit for sparing; buyers selecting a current migration destination should evaluate C1300-48P-4X instead.
ORM Systems offers SG550X-48P-K9 new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units. Returns are 30 days for every condition; terms apply. Cisco's separate limited lifetime hardware warranty is bounded by the last support date, July 31, 2027.
The SG550X-48P occupies 1U and measures 440 mm wide, 44 mm high, and 350 mm deep. Its weight is 5.82 kg, and a mounting kit is included in the original package. Rack planning must also accommodate connected cabling and the operating temperature range of 0°C to 50°C.
