SX550X-24-K9-UK is a managed, non-PoE, Layer 2+ switch for small-business aggregation, with 20 dedicated 10 Gigabit Ethernet copper ports and four fixed copper/SFP+ combo uplinks. Each combo connection uses either copper or fiber, keeping the total at 24 active network ports rather than 28. The rack-mount 1U Cisco 550X Series model connects servers and network storage over copper while retaining fiber connections for access-switch aggregation. Its fixed uplink architecture has no removable network-module bay. The discontinued SX550X-24F-K9-UK instead carries 20 dedicated 10G SFP+ ports for fiber-based connections. This 24-port 10GBase-T stackable managed switch requires separately powered endpoints because its network ports do not supply PoE.

480 Gbps switching capacity accommodates the switch's network interfaces, while 240 Mpps forwarding specifies performance with 64-byte packets. Static routing and RIP v2 provide inter-VLAN routing; PBR directs selected traffic, and VRRP v2/v3 supports redundant default gateways. The IPv4 table accommodates 7168 routes. SX550X-24-K9-UK includes 512 MB of DRAM and 256 MB of flash for operation and image storage. A dynamically shared 3 MB packet buffer serves traffic across the ports rather than reserving a separate allocation for each connection. STP, RSTP and MSTP provide spanning-tree control, while LACP supports aggregated links. A dedicated Gigabit management connection separates administrative connectivity from the network ports. Maximum consumption of 124.6W supplies a sizing figure for the electrical load without an endpoint-power allocation. Four operating fans and one redundant fan provide active cooling; this is not a fanless switch.

When replacing an installed SG550XG-24T-K9-UK, the original switch's Cisco support ended June 30, 2025. SX550X-24-K9-UK is its named replacement, but is itself discontinued. Treat the purchase as an existing-network replacement: verify the saved configuration, interface assignments and required accessories before specifying the replacement order.
When adding another member to an existing 550X stack, the family supports ring or chain connections and a maximum of 400 ports managed as one system. Allocate interconnect interfaces before counting usable endpoint connections, then specify the topology, cable lengths and member configuration on the purchase order.
When staging storage or server connections that require larger frames, the switch supports frames up to 9000 bytes. Validate the intended frame size across the connected equipment rather than assuming every device uses the same setting. Record the tested configuration and required connection media before approving the purchase order.
PoE power for connected endpoints
The network ports supply no endpoint power. C1300-24P-4X provides 24 Gigabit PoE ports and four 10G SFP+ uplinks, but changes copper downlinks from 10G to Gigabit.
Twenty-four copper connections plus fiber uplinks
Four SFP+ connections share their interfaces with four copper ports. Using all four fiber connections leaves 20 copper connections, not 24 copper connections plus additional uplinks.
