SF250-48HP-K9-UK is a smart-managed Layer 2+ switch with 48 10/100 Mbps PoE+ access ports and four fixed Gigabit uplinks for small-business networks. Two uplinks are dedicated SFP slots; the other two are copper/SFP combo connections, with only one medium active on each combo port. The Rack-Mount 1U chassis belongs to the Cisco 250 Series Smart Switches and connects powered phones, cameras and wireless access points alongside ordinary Ethernet devices. The discontinued SF250-48-K9-UK provides the corresponding non-PoE configuration for separately powered endpoints. Cisco SF250-48HP uses built-in uplinks rather than a removable network-module bay, so selecting copper or fiber media does not change the access ports' Fast Ethernet speed.

17.6 Gbps switching capacity and 13.1 Mpps forwarding at 64-byte packets support wire-speed, nonblocking operation. 195W of shared PoE+ capacity allocates power across connected endpoints rather than guaranteeing maximum draw on every port. Static IPv4 routing supports 32 routes and 16 IP interfaces for communication between local networks. SF250-48HP-K9-UK carries 512 MB of DRAM and 256 MB of flash for its control software and stored images. A 24 Mb packet buffer is shared dynamically across all ports instead of being dedicated per interface. The MAC table supports 8K addresses, while 255 active VLANs separate traffic. STP, RSTP and MSTP provide loop control, and LACP supports four aggregation groups with eight active ports per group. HTTP/HTTPS and a full or menu-based CLI provide management choices, with SSH and SNMP available for administration and monitoring. The fixed uplink hardware does not provide a 10G upgrade path.
ORM Systems supplies SF250-48HP-K9-UK new sealed or certified refurbished; specify condition, quantity and required optics on the PO. Certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested, with PoE output verified under load on every powered port, firmware verified and configuration wiped to factory default. ORM warranty is up to 3-year extended for new units and up to 1 year for refurbished units, with 30-day returns on every condition; terms apply, while Cisco's separate limited lifetime hardware warranty is bounded by service ending 31 July 2027. Enterprise and volume orders support PO acceptance, Net-30 for government and RMA with advance replacement, with regional stock and RMA coverage across the UK, EU, US and MEA.

An IP phone rollout carrying ordinary data traffic needs voice handling configured before endpoints are connected. Auto Smartports and LLDP-MED support automatic voice assignment, while eight hardware queues provide traffic-priority controls. Specify the voice VLAN, endpoint discovery behavior and queue policy in the staging configuration before issuing the PO.
Several sites requiring the same configuration can use text-editable configuration files and SCP-based autoconfiguration rather than recreating settings independently. CLI privilege levels 1, 7 and 15 distinguish administrative access levels. Include the configuration template, credential handling and staging requirements with the switch quantities on the PO.
Troubleshooting equipment for a staging bench may need traffic copies rather than production forwarding alone. Port mirroring can send traffic from four source ports to one destination, and VLAN mirroring supports four source VLANs. Specify the traffic sources to observe and reserve the analyzer connection before ordering the bench equipment.
Gigabit speeds at every endpoint
The 48 access ports stop at 100 Mbps. CBS250-48PP-4G-UK offered Gigabit access but is also discontinued; this replacement chain has no current successor.
10G uplinks to distribution
The fixed uplinks operate at 1G, with no removable uplink card to add 10G. A deployment requiring 10G distribution connections exceeds this switch's uplink speed.
Maximum PoE draw on every port
The shared 195W allocation cannot supply 30W to all 48 powered ports simultaneously. Size the combined endpoint load before selecting hardware for full-port PoE+ demand.

SF250-48HP-K9-UK identifies the Cisco SF250-48HP Fast Ethernet PoE+ switch in its UK regional ordering variant. SF250 belongs to the Fast Ethernet group; 48HP identifies the configuration with 48 powered access ports sharing 195W. The complete ordering identifier includes K9, and the hardware has four fixed Gigabit uplinks.
SF250-48HP-K9-UK supports an HTTP/HTTPS web interface, a full or menu-based CLI over SSH or Telnet, and SNMP v1/v2c/v3. Smart Network Application, FindIT Network Manager with an embedded FindIT Network Probe, and Cisco Active Advisor provide additional management paths. Browser management includes basic and advanced modes, configuration wizards and a system dashboard.
SF250-48HP-K9-UK reached end of sale on 30 July 2022, and its last date of Cisco support is 31 July 2027. Software maintenance ended on 30 July 2023. Orders for installed-base replacements therefore need to distinguish remaining eligible service coverage from the already-ended software maintenance period.
ORM Systems offers SF250-48HP-K9-UK new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to 3-year extended new warranty or up to 1-year refurbished warranty. Both conditions have 30-day returns; terms apply. Cisco's separate limited lifetime hardware warranty is bounded by service ending 31 July 2027; fans and power supplies have 1-year limited coverage.
SF250-48HP-K9-UK replaces SLM248PT-G5, sold as the SF200-48P 48-Port 10/100 PoE Smart Switch. SLM248PT-G5 reached end of sale on 10 May 2018 and its last date of support on 31 May 2023. The SF250 replacement is also discontinued, so a like-for-like spare order still needs lifecycle planning.
SF250-48HP-K9-UK provides a shared 195W PoE+ budget across 48 powered access ports, with a maximum of 30W on an individual port. The individual-port rating is not available simultaneously across every port. Add the intended endpoints' power requirements and compare the combined load with the shared allocation before ordering.
SF250-48HP-K9-UK has four fixed Gigabit uplinks: two dedicated SFP ports and two copper/SFP combo ports. Each combo connection permits only one medium to operate at a time. The uplinks do not require a removable network card, and changing between copper and fiber does not enable 10G operation.
Yes, SF250-48HP-K9-UK supports static IPv4 routing with 32 static routes and 16 IP interfaces. Layer 3 interfaces can use physical ports, link aggregation groups, VLAN interfaces or loopback interfaces. The static routing capability places this configuration in the Layer 2+ category rather than making it a dynamic-routing access switch.
Cisco SF250-48HP is rack-mountable in a 1U chassis and is not fanless; cooling uses two fans. The chassis measures 440 mm wide, 44 mm high and 350 mm deep, with a weight of 4.93 kg. Check rack depth, equipment support and the mounting hardware included with the selected condition.
SF250-48HP-K9-UK uses an internal universal AC power supply accepting 100-240V AC at 50-60 Hz. Worst-case consumption including PoE is 265.2W at 110V or 255.8W at 220V. Electrical and backup-power planning must account for total switch consumption rather than treating the 195W endpoint allocation as the input requirement.
Cisco SF250-48HP supports MGBSX1 for 1G multimode fiber links to 500 m and MGBLX1 for 1G single-mode fiber links to 10 km. Select transceivers against the installed fiber type and link distance. Include the selected transceiver PIDs and matching patch leads on the order rather than specifying fiber connectivity alone.
SF250-48HP-K9-UK supplies PoE+ to its 48 access ports, while SF250-48-K9-UK provides non-PoE access ports. Both models are discontinued. The powered variant suits phones, cameras and other endpoints that need switch-delivered power; the non-PoE configuration suits devices powered from separate supplies.
SF250-48HP-K9-UK has 48 Fast Ethernet access ports, while SF250-24P-K9-UK has 24. Both are discontinued PoE+ configurations with fixed Gigabit uplinks. The 48-port model addresses a larger endpoint count in one chassis; the 24-port model addresses a smaller access-port requirement where that lower density matches the intended order.
CBS250-48PP-4G-UK has 48 Gigabit access ports, whereas SF250-48HP-K9-UK has 48 Fast Ethernet access ports. CBS250-48PP-4G-UK was its replacement but also reached end of sale on 29 October 2024, with no migration product. The former addresses Gigabit endpoint requirements; the SF250 addresses 100 Mbps requirements, but neither is a current-successor option.
