WS-C3650-12X48FD-S identifies a Catalyst 3650 multigigabit model with IP Base. WS-C3650 is the series prefix; 12X48 describes twelve multigigabit ports within forty-eight copper downlinks. The FD configuration includes two 10G uplinks and PWR-C1-1100WAC, while -S selects IP Base. The remaining thirty-six downlinks are Gigabit Ethernet.
Cisco Catalyst 3650 switches support a browser-based Web UI, local console CLI, remote CLI over SSH or Telnet, SNMPv3, and Cisco Prime Infrastructure. SSH and encrypted SNMPv3 require a cryptographic software image. Voice VLAN configuration and software upgrades are unavailable through the Web UI in Cisco IOS XE 16.9.
WS-C3650-12X48FD-S is discontinued: Cisco ended sales on October 31, 2021, and support ends October 31, 2026. Vulnerability and security support end on the same date. WS-C3650-12X48FD-S has two fixed 10G SFP+ uplink ports without a removable uplink module bay. SFP+ interfaces also support Gigabit Ethernet speeds. Confirm selected optics, software compatibility and required link distance before issuing the PO; adding an uplink network module cannot increase the fixed uplink count.
WS-C3650-12X48FD-S supports StackWise-160 with nine Catalyst 3650 members and 160 Gbps stacking bandwidth. Specify C3650-STACK-KIT= and compatible STACK-T2-50CM=, STACK-T2-1M= or STACK-T2-3M= cables. Every member must share the license level. A stack containing both Catalyst 3650 and Catalyst 3850 members is unsupported, regardless of their installed software licenses.
WS-C3650-12X48FD-S supports Layer 3 routing with IP Base: Static, RIPv1, RIPv2, RIPng, EIGRP Stub, PBR and routed-access OSPF. Full OSPF, EIGRP, BGPv4, IS-ISv4 and PIM require IP Services. The 24000-entry IPv4 total includes ARP plus learned routes; hardware scale does not remove the installed license's protocol restrictions.
WS-C3650-12X48FD-S ships with one PWR-C1-1100WAC and has a second internal power-supply bay for optional redundancy. A second PWR-C1-1100WAC= must be specified separately when required. The default configuration therefore does not provide dual-supply redundancy; confirm the installed supply count and power-supply PIDs on the purchase order.
WS-C3650-12X48UQ-S supports 60W Cisco UPOE per port, whereas WS-C3650-12X48FD-S supports 30W PoE+. Both models are discontinued, and endpoint demand still requires shared-budget sizing. The FD configuration matches legacy PoE+ endpoint requirements; the UQ configuration serves existing Cisco UPOE installations that require higher per-port endpoint power.
WS-C3650-12X48FD-E includes IP Services, whereas WS-C3650-12X48FD-S includes IP Base. IP Services enables full OSPF, EIGRP, BGPv4, IS-ISv4 and PIM routing beyond the IP Base feature set.
