Static routing and inter-VLAN routing support communication between configured networks; OSPF and BGP require Network Advantage rather than the supplied tier. 16000 MAC entries and 256 VLANs establish the address-learning and segmentation limits to check against the network design. IE-3400H-24FT-E carries 4 GB of DRAM and 1.5 GB of user-accessible flash for operating software and local storage. LACP supports link aggregation, while RSTP and MSTP provide spanning-tree control for redundant connections. An installed IE-2000-24T67-B fleet has passed its March 31, 2026 Cisco support end date. A replacement order needs more than the old part number: verify endpoint cabling, configuration migration and the required software entitlement before selecting units. Specify the replacement quantity and staging requirements on the PO.

IE-3400H-24FT-E uses four-pin D-coded M12 data interfaces, not RJ-45 sockets. Compatible M12-to-RJ-45 cables are required where the connected equipment terminates in RJ-45; ordinary patch cords cannot connect directly.

IE-3400H identifies Catalyst IE3400 Heavy Duty, 24 denotes 24 interfaces, FT denotes Fast Ethernet M12 interfaces, and E denotes Network Essentials. IE-3400H-24FT-E has no separate uplink code in its part number. The physical data connections use four-pin D-coded M12 connectors rather than conventional RJ-45 sockets.
IE-3400H-24FT-E supports WebUI, CLI through the M12 console or over SSH and Telnet, Cisco Catalyst Center, Industrial Network Director, SNMP and CIP management. NETCONF, RESTCONF and YANG provide automation interfaces. Local serial setup uses CAB-CONSOLE-M12=; Cisco Catalyst Center licensing is separate from the switch's perpetual network license.
Cisco has not announced an end-of-sale date for Catalyst IE3400 Heavy Duty. Software-release and accessory retirement milestones are separate from the switch hardware lifecycle. The discontinued IE-2000-24T67-B predecessor reached end of sale on March 5, 2021, with Cisco support ending March 31, 2026.
ORM Systems offers IE-3400H-24FT-E new sealed or certified refurbished, with up to a 3-year extended warranty for new units and up to 1 year for certified refurbished units. Cisco's separate platform warranty is a 5-year limited hardware warranty, subject to eligibility. Both ORM conditions have 30-day returns, terms apply; certified refurbished units are inspected and bench-tested.
IE-3400H-24FT-E includes perpetual Network Essentials and can add perpetual Network Advantage through IE3400H-NW-A=. Optional Cisco Catalyst Center Essentials and Advantage subscriptions have three-, five- or seven-year terms; neither is mandatory. Catalyst Center Advantage requires Network Advantage on the switch, so the management subscription does not replace the network-tier upgrade.

IE-2000-24T67-B reached end of sale on March 5, 2021, and its last Cisco support date was March 31, 2026. IE-3400H-24T-E provides 24 10/100/1000 Mbps X-coded M12 interfaces, while IE-3400H-24FT-E provides 24 10/100 Mbps D-coded M12 interfaces. Connector coding changes with interface speed, so existing cable compatibility needs checking. The Fast Ethernet model suits 100 Mbps endpoints; the Gigabit variant suits endpoints requiring 1 Gbps.
IE-3400H-24FT-A includes Network Advantage, while IE-3400H-24FT-E includes Network Essentials on the same 24-port Fast Ethernet M12 hardware. Network Advantage adds OSPF, BGP and EIGRP routing. Choose the E model for static routed access; choose the A model when those dynamic routing protocols are required without a subsequent tier upgrade.
IE-3400H-16FT-E has 16 Fast Ethernet M12 interfaces, while IE-3400H-24FT-E has 24. The smaller interface count suits equipment groups that fit within 16 connections. The 24-port unit suits larger groups, provided the connection plan also reserves interfaces for upstream traffic instead of assigning every connection to an endpoint.
The 24-port Fast Ethernet M12 switch uses four-pin D-coded M12 data connectors and an A-coded M12 console connector. CAB-CONSOLE-M12= connects the console to a DB9 serial interface. Data links require compatible M12 cabling, including M12-to-RJ-45 cables where needed; unused connectors need secured dust caps to preserve ingress protection.
IE-3400H-24FT-E accepts DC power through one Mini-Change connector, with a marked 12-48V DC range and an absolute 9.6-60V DC range. An external power solution must be supplied for installation. The model draws 44.2W at 9.6V and 45W at 60V; the connector does not provide a second redundant input.
Catalyst IE3400 Heavy Duty operates from -40°C to 60°C without forced airflow; operation at higher continuous temperatures requires airflow. The maximum functional temperature reaches 75°C under the specified airflow conditions. Safety certifications cover ambient temperatures below 60°C, so the highest functional temperature is not an unrestricted safety-approved installation rating.
